  • I secretly hoping for a Skyrim ps4 port.

  • Really enjoyable first two thirds, slightly disappointing ending. Will replay it though.

  • That's a shame to hear, but I'm loving it so far (only on day 2). It doesn't do a LOST does it? #nospoilers

  • Never watched it so couldn't say, it's not an MGSV style ending. It just peaks in the middle third. No regrets about buying it though!

  • Also, were you complaining about the last Tomb Raider or the new one?

  • Rise of the Tomb Raider, no experience of the first reboot, or any of them before TR3 for that matter!

  • It's a weird year. No Assassins Creed. I'm still enjoying Syndicate though. Back log is growing, I can't get through a game a week anymore like when I was younger.

  • I really want to have an attack happen on sanctuary or the castle as they are beefed up to fuck and solid in terms of defense, instead I keep getting bugged to go to all the half arsed settlements I haven't been bothered to build up

  • I've stopped playing. Waiting for a gfx overhaul (higher quality) before I carry on. The textures are massive for such a "ok" looking game.

Want more Witcher 3 DLC... can't wait to play the new one

  • Had attacks on Castle, just hid and watch the carnages as my defense obliterated them.

    Don't use traps, they're shit.

  • TR2 was the best one. Loved that game. I bought it for my phone but the controls are awful #notmadefortouchscreens

  • Same here, though I got lucky and picked them up for stupidly cheap on Steam!

Also, had a similar disappointment upon playing GTA: Vice City on my phone...

  • Even on tablets they don't translate well which is a shame. Already owned them on steam but still thought it would be a worthy spend of 7 quid per game to get the iOS versions a while back. How wrong I was.

Currently about halfway through Rise of the Tomb Raider. I'm certainly enjoying it even if it is a bit grindy. Certainly finding things at early stages of the game that you simple can't access (rope arrows for example) and having to come back to them hours later is a bore. Crafting and skill tree is vaguely satisfying. I skip most of the cut scenes so have no real investment in story. The set pieces are generally fun and seem even placed - i.e. figure out puzzles for a while then have to do some timed exercise out of the blue or risk falling into a chasm. It does look very nice. Sometimes the forced camera takes you out of the moment - i.e. if she's fitting through a gap or looking up at something massive on the horizon but I appreciate the value of it when timed with a more rousing bit of score (particularly on the latter). I enjoyed the early areas where all you had was a bow. As the guns arrive as the game develops I find myself drawn towards running and gunning which doesn't interest me that much and seems not particularly Tomb Raidery.

People were talking about Uncharted being a similar vibe but that's PS only right?

  • Interesting. I'll definitely play the new one, I'm a sucker for nostalgia and always like the TR series, the few that I've played. Uncharted is great, especially if you like TR (though I'd just play the second one, it's the best), worth borrowing a PS3 to play it.

Agree with you @mmccarthy Firewatch did do a LOST, i.e. couldn't deliver on the suspense it built. However it was fun, and worth the a) money and b) time played to complete.

Now onto Alien Isolation. Do I need brown trousers?

  • Really looking forward to a computer worthy of Isolation. Looked and ran ok on my laptop for the half hour I played but I want to hook it up to a projector and a beefy machine. One of the few recent games I think will be worth the effort of doing so.

  • Alien Isolation?

  • After watching people playing it in VR, I want to try that!

So far Alien Isolation is basically the bit in Half Life where you crawl through the vents being shit up by headcrabs, but for the whole game. Am I right?

  • My girlfriend and I finished Firewatch in I think two sittings and I really enjoyed it. Agreed that it didn't deliver in the end, though.

Visually stunning and was great at building up suspense. Will probably play it again in a few months so for £13 can't really complain.

That would involve me posting spoilers...

  • Half Life 2 have been out for 12 years dude, let it go.

  • Ha! Completely forgot about the OG headcrabs which Alien invented. Brown trousers it is.

  • Five minutes in Rise of the Tomb Raider, I'm really enjoying it, and the visual too.

Look like it's finally a proper Tomb Raider games too.

  • Wait 'til it gets weird.

  • Bit of a change of pace with Euro Truck Simulator 2. I've attempted to make it as authentic as possible...
