@chrisbmx116 - huh? https://www.google.com/search?q=5k+imac&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=5k+imac&safe=off&tbm=shop
@Clockwise - awesome - good to know!
@Sumo - I dunno. New stuff though. Not really a FPS multiplayer type of guy, though.

Didn't see this - sweet! And cheaper!

Can't post a link but a refurb retina iMac is £1540 or something ATM on the Apple Store, which is the same as your headless build if you go the finance route. Macs are crap for games though to be fair.

^there's some extras you may need on something like that, a wireless card, maybe some cables to attach the hard drives and a 2.5'' to 4.5'' mount for the SSD. A monitor.
-
• #13006
@chrisbmx116 - not going to finance and got a monitor, but yeah - didn't consider the lack of a screen. True.
@Sumo - yeah, was just thinking about Wifi - also, will the mobo take 4 ram sticks? nevermind, checked specs - it will.

Mobo should do. For wifi I'm using one of these as I found internal cards a bit shit. http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/networking/wirelessnetworking/wirelessusbadapters/archert4u.html

Cool.
Do people need to actually buy Windows now? Can I use a license from a laptop that's running Linux?
-
• #13011
No point paying for Windows these days, W10 will be free for anyone with a valid copy or not.
-
• #13012
So same as always. Sweet.
This is exciting.

That's good news. Really like the look of windows 10 actually, my bootcamp partition could do with an upgrade...

Anyone on here tried gaming on a surface pro? Debating a declutter and dancing rolling my laptop and tablet together. I mostly game on my xbox but like to have a few titles to potter on with at work. All my media is on a hdd i use with iTunes so i should be able to carry that over to it.

• #13015
Someone on this thread has for sure - remember hearing good things and being surprised but I suppose it's not that hard to believe given the hardware/$$$
-
• #13016
@mmccarthy I think?

I've got the Surface Pro 2, thoroughly enjoy it! Obviously it's not exactly a powerhouse but like I've mentioned previously I can run GTA V at around 25 fps and Metal Gear 5 a bit higher. Most of my time is spent with less graphically taxing games but those are the two that challenge it the most.

I was almost tempted to get myself some USB SNES controllers for some added authenticity. I'd start to worry if he was button mashing though, I'd expect the controller to be in pieces!

I have a Surface Pro 3 and I've spent the last two pages talking about buying a desktop...
But it works. Crysis runs.

im just looking at playing stuff when im at work/travelling. Would it be able to manage starcraft 2 and diabo 3 do you think?
-
• #13021
This list says yes:http://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/comments/17srkv/huge_list_of_games_the_surface_pro_meets_minimum/
I love my surface, BTW. Awesome piece of hardware.

Anyone here playing or played Far Cry 4 on the PS4? Really trying to get into it but am struggling with same same aspect, is it worth persevering with?
-
• #13023
It is the same all the way through, but escalates as you increase your abilities and gets a bit more fun as when you get the parachute/wing suit/whatever it was in 3.
On my first play through it took me faaaaaaar too long to realise you had to craft weapon slots, so I did most of the game with only one gun. -
• #13024
Best advice was to complete as many hunting mission to get rare skin for crafting.

And that's the standard surface pro too. So the pro 3 should be capable of this with ease. Might be time to upgrade. Thanks.
Here's a quick list of what I would build if I started from scratch:
