  • Making a game extremely easy and unrewarding is called making it accessible these days...

  • Yeah D3 is actually really, really good now. Loot 2.0 works great. You can still find great items but very good items are still hard to come by.

    Levelling characters is fun.

There is also an even quicker way to level characters - host a game in torment level 10 and have a level 60 join to kill everything. They'll kill everything in one hit and your levels will fly up (I went up 40 levels in around 15 minutes).

  • Massive flashback to D2 after starting D3, nice to visit Tristram again.

  • ^^^ So UT leveling is back?

  • There's a new U-specific Zelda coming out apparently.

    It had better be good!!!

I was really looking forward to the new Mario Kart but after seeing the trailer I think I'd rather they released SNES Super Mario Kart on Virtual Console... I excitedly bought the Wii Mario Kart when I got the Wii U and immediately remembered how much I hated it... Meh...

  • ^^^ So UT leveling is back?

    UT???

Kinda reminds me of the old cow level levelling though!

  • UT???

Uber tristram. You know, you stand afk in trist and some palas spam hammers on Meph's summoned skellies and when you come back after making the, you're lvl 75. After your tea is finished you're 80!
They removed the massive XP from those skellies in 1.12 methinks, but it seems they did something similar to D3 now...

  • I'm tempted to give D2 a go again but I'm wayyy too in to D3 at the moment. Machine I urge you to give it another go.

  • So. D3 Loot 2.0. Just fired up the game for the first time in about 9 months. Hell level Demon Hunter, 1st Act. Within 5 minutes I found - a Legendary Chest Piece that more than doubled my armour, a rare bow that doubled my damage, and enough rare armour to complete requip him. I no longer takes 10 bolas to kill the average zombie. Looking forward to firing up the rest of my characters now.

Happened to me, and my mate (both haven't played for ages). I think it's a programmed in welcome back present. Completed Act V with my Monk (lv50 now), and not doing the Adventure mode with a new Crusader in Expert mode, which is not easy. The Act V boss on Hard took about 12 attempts.

So someone gonna start a LFGSS clan? I'm Photoben#2915

  • Well up for a D3 clan - I'll set something up tonight!

  • I will try it again, in time. My disappointment in the game, and it's initial gameplay which can't have changed much, still has the better of me. And I'm rocking in D2 at the moment! If anyone is interested in my Almost Unkillable PvM Assassin for HC play, let me know.

As for the D3 clan, I recommend it be a community in stead of a clan as one can only be part of one clan at a time, but part of multiple communities.

    ...is where you'd expect it

  • Just started playing Elder Scrolls Online. It's very much like Skyrim when you're playing on servers for a different timezone (ie: no one around). Still, it's pretty nice so far.

Also nice that it has a native OSX version

Good point. I'm already part of a clan.

  • ^^ It didnt take me more than one day of playing to realise that it's just another ''kill and collect, kill and collect, kill and collect'' MMORPG type of game. I honestly got bored after 4 hours of playing, but pushed myself to keep going. It didn't get any better though.

  • Started Metro last night... really good... interesting story line, really enjoying killing Russian Nazis.
Steam controller support is great too- using a wired Xbox one on a rMBP.
    We've come along way!

  • OK, officially had enough of Skyrim - level 77 with no urge to grind the last few skills to reach 81, 28 unused perks, thane of everywhere, houses everywhere, all questlines complete except a couple which glitched, all places found, ridiculous amounts of money, weapons, armour etc.

Will now probably sell console to avoid risk of getting into Killzone / Dark Souls / GTA or anything else which will ruin summer. So many lost hours...

I don't see it as making it easier, it's more about scaling ability with difficulty. All four of my 4 x Lvl 55 D3 characters were getting their asses handed to them by every single group of Elites that they ran into. It was boring and annoying and I didn't have the desire to dip into the AH nor did I have the gear to get the Blacksmith to build anything decent. No progress, no way of getting progress, so I stopped. Why would I keep playing?

To me, one of the most enjoyable aspects of D2 was the replayability, but I had no desire to start again with D3. The balance was wrong, There was a critical flaw in the game. Now several months later I come back to check out the new balance, and my characters are instantly more capable? Not indestructible, but able to compete. That's called keeping your community happy. I don't have a problem with that. Lots of the D2 patches did similar things around addressing balance, that's why I still played it until D3 was released.

I have no problem with game getting harder, forcing me to use different approaches, but at least give me a chance to find the equipment to progress.

  • I fired up D3 and got as far as rescuing the old git from the skeleton king and in total had only 4 items drop (3 standard, 1 blue) last night. I thought I'd try as a demon hunter and to get through the 1st level of the cathedral took me about 25 minutes, i couldn't move more than half a screen without running into 10-15 enemies and at lvl 5 I have no weapons or skills that will let me make any kind of headway through them so I was constantly backpedalling to evade the hordes.

none of the merchants in tristram seem to sell items for demon hunters either and I don't have any in my stash so i'm basically going to have to grind the shit out of the game to get to a point where it evens out a bit.

i think it was actually slightly better before...

  • The DH stuff doesn't rock up until later IIRC. I just used melee gear until I could find decent bows about level 5 or so.

I like wandering around looking at stuff, so for me it works pretty well. Its not as pretty as my Skyrim setup, but SweetFX works so I'll try using that.

I rarely ever found a merchants that sell really good stuff that's better than the shit I savages around.

I do recall having to sell a lots of demon hunters kits that I picked up (I was playing as a Crusader).

  • ^^ You talk about it as if it's ages ago.. Crusader has only been around for a couple of days!

^ That is just fucked up...
