We are confident to show that not only do we pass the European Safety Standards, but that we are significantly safer than other manufacturers that use foam structures.
Good luck with that.

Whyever not?

Well, if they could, why not just show it then? That fantasy animation does not qualify.
Koroyd is similar (although actually possible to use in production) and was also introduced as superior to EPS, but everyone that tries to use it end up using it as eye catching green stuff, while still relying on EPS to do the main job.
The thing is: EPS in the right density with a PC shell is an excellent choice for shock absorption.

Large Spesh Echelon 2 has just come to the end of its life.
Ideas for the next one - perhaps something less bulbous? Before I just buy the Echelon again (for a third time).

I enjoy the low profileness of my Ekoi AR13
Pretty cheap too
-
• #1260
That is low profile.
Wonder how they’ve managed to get such a slim helmet compared to other manufacturers? Who are Ekoi?
-
• #1261
Ekoi are a French brand..they sponsor the French team AG2R (Romain Bardet etc)
Make nice lids..with cool magnetic fasteners -

Been tempted by POC Omne - definitely a lot lower profile than their usual.
-
• #1263
I saw that, looks good..I had a POC for a bit...didn’t suit me. With the old ones I think you have to be a bit of a unit otherwise you look like toad in mariocart .

Stayed in the Specialized stable - Propero III with Mips. If it ain’t broke...
definitely not low profile though
-
• #1265
It’s a nice lid, it does look a bit angry though...that vent at the front is definitely saying “U WOT M8”

Any new helmet recommendations for long heads? My Synthe is pretty comfortable but is very mushroomy on my narrow face. I measure up 60cm which puts me safely in L for most brands.
Also, any concerns buying a new 2018 helmet? Someone in Condor was telling me helmets have a shelf life regardless of use due to the deterioration of the foam over time. True facts or sales bollocks?

Tru facts, but only through UV exposure. So as long as it has been stored inside, you'll likely do more damage dropping it, chucking it in a bag in the 3 years left of it's 'official' lifetime than the environment.
This study says you'll be fine: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26902784I have found Scott and Lazer have been good for my large, longish head.

Ah cheers, makes sense.
Lazer Z1 sounds good but looks v similar profile/looks to the Synthe. Probably a marmite choice but I quite like the look of Oakley ARO5 which is supposedly has a narrow profile. Also down to £80 atm in Wiggle.
Anyone have experience on the Oakley? Creeping around on @ekudduke 's insta feed I think he has one?

Aro 5 -It's my favourite helmet (totally not saying this because I'm an Oakley athlete etc) prefer it much more than the aro 3. It's very aero. The only downside is that it gets pretty hot/lack of vents on the back. I had a wasp stuck in my helmet once and couldn't get it out, had to stop to free it. Ended up with a pretty sore head 😂. But I would definitely recommend the Aro 5, I have a few giro synthe and still choose the aro 5 all the time.

Good to hear, thanks! I've read about the overheating, does concern me but the pro's sound like they outweigh the cons.
Seems to have mixed views on the profile. Some people saying it's slim from the front but others saying it's "mushroomy". How does it compare with the Synthe?
You can get MIPS built in to the pads now, so it's less of an issue.
I suspect that the honeycomb will have a different compression pattern to EPS. Generally when tubular structures like that collapse, there is a certain amount of lateral movement anyway.
