  • Much as I would also like to see uncharasmatic northerners doing well he has as much chance as you and i will have on friday.

    Will

Are you suggesting that we will be held back by our team mates?

Who is leading the GB team?

  • Clive; no, he closed the blog because he's had enough of the lies and the doubt http://cyclingfansanonymous.blogspot.com/

unfortunately i tend to think a TDF with no one caught is not the same as a clean TdF.
things have got better, clean riders have more of a chance and teams where riders really try it on (like Liberty Seguros http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/ribeiro-nozal-and-guerra-positive-for-cera) tend to get caught quickly but who can you trust? Wiggins? Yes, I think so. Cancellara? Mmm, wouldn't put any money on it.

no; i'm saying our team mates are the ones with the better chance :)

  • A really useful resource but hasn't it closed because doping is now acknowleged to have occurred rather than being constantly denied and now something is being done about it. A Tour de France with no dopers caught was wonderful. Maybe, just maybe, cycling has become clean?

After 100 years of it being rife? Somehow I doubt it, Clive.

The biological passport has improved things but there is still no test for autologous blood transfusion and, as always, there are new drugs coming to market that the testers can't test for.

Well, he's not British is he? wonder what the Swiss think?

  • rode through london a few years ago with russ downing, wickedly nice bloke, hasnt got a chance i dont think.

cunego is in the form of his life and stands a great chance, but who knows.

    looking forward to it though!

    it didn't happen - Asterloza

  • Good point Nhimbus; I'd forgotten about him. And from such a trustworthy team too :)

  • Asterloza's positive came from an out of competition test before the Tour not from the Tour itself.

  • Men's U23 time trial results:
    1 Jack Bobridge (AUS) 40.44.79
    2 Nelson Oliveira (POR) 18.73
    3 Patrick Gretsch (GER) 27.66

    Yes, very well done Bobby.

Good point Andy; he'd seen the error of his ways by July and rode the tour clean :)

  • The mens TT is live now on BBCnews - sport bit

  • TT live video on BBC wesbsite http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/cycling/8269507.stm

(thinking about it, that's probably what boardchrisman meant but I'm a dafty and thought he meant the telly)

  • oh dear, Wiggo caught for two mins by Cancellara!...

could work for Brad if he paces himself on Fabian he could still medal....

  • Cancellara is killing them, just got wiggins for 2 minutes..

  • sugar honey iced tea, cancellara is a machine.

hopefully he blows up, but i cant see that happening really, sounds like he knows the course perfectly.

  • Looks like it'll be close between Martin and Wiggins for bronze.

  • Not anymore..

  • Wiggins has a mechanical - any chance he had of a medal has gone now.

  • Gear fail.

  • Should've ridden fixed. ;p

  • Was it his electrical shifting system?
    Ran out of batteries?
    Was the front mech.
    They haven't said.

  • Watching on Eurosport. Looked like he was trying to change gear by leaning down to the left and tugging on the cable. Long wait for the spare bike though.

  • hissy fit at being overtaken?
