  • Wicked! Will trawl through these vids when I'm less tired. Bin a long day

  • one last one from Skullys collection
YouTube- Mad Professor - Dj Choice

  • YouTube- Iration Steppas - Reminiscence Dub

A nice heavy tune to get the party started.

I was lucky enough to see a screening of Winstan Whitter's film, "Legacy in the Dust" at the NFT a year or so a go, with a live performance from Janet Kay performing Silly Games. Highly recommended. The Four Aces site is now occupied by a rather large slab of concrete & new build private accommodation.

It will always be The Labrynth to me.

  • M.f. has gone a bit mad! Having a listen now.

  • theres a few albums for people to check out from that little sesh last night,
really enjoyed that deep down dark selection, the D & B was just included as its MP and phasey-spacey

Great to hear from someone who saw this, I was Winstan's online editor and graphics man for this ... sorry to say it is now under wraps as no funding was ever found. That club seems like it had some seriously influential history (I never made it to Labrynth, which would have been most likely, or the later sounds that played like the modern dub sounds that were still playing right before the end).

Good tunes from *m.f as always...

    @Monko
    Sorry I didn't reply re:ticket earlier.
My next port of call after *m.f was another good friend whom I hardly ever see. He's able to take it, and very chuffed about it he seems too... we were discussing the Heart of The Congos LP and what a wonderful piece it is ... and how the Congos now are unlikely to come close, but we'll see. I gather Toots & the Ms are playing all over the place lately so should be warmed up and on form. I would have passed it on to you otherwise. No hard feelings, bredrenizer!

  • no no none at all, was worth a try! Toots are playing in August now after one love which im going to as well.

August is full of events that no one should miss on here, One Love Festival at the start, toots the week after, jah shaka a week before carnival. Then carnival with aba shanti-i and channel one, then the after party at mass, Brixton with Dubkasm, iration steppas and channel one. Its going to be a good one!

  • YouTube- The Congos - Children Crying

The Congos were outstanding on Saturday! Righteous and harmonious! They played a lot of songs from the 'Heart...' album like this^, and I was in ecxtasy (the 'Upsetter' band was tight - Dennis Bovell on bass...) Lee Perry was really good too ... and Toots, well, Toots was like a reggae elvis ... working the crowd to a frenzy ...

What a totally amazing weekend I've had because of it. Mindblowing stuff.

  • @Monko ... do you know, is Jah Observer Sound System still any good at Carnival (corner of Ledbury and Talbot roads)? I used to go there for a few years back in the 90s and it was a seriously good-vibes place ... Some great vocalists ... then went one year about 2000 and it was not so any more. I have some really good memories of being there, staying all day not going far.

  • hey hey,
    jea---lous or what?
sounds fantastic that gig. pretty sure Jah observer was there last couple of years at N.H. although I just stick to Channel One, last time I got there early, spent a whole afternoon just having a laugh with some guys who were let out by their wives for the day, remember R.K telling people to stop dancing on the wall (I was) "cos you might lose your beer" ha!
went out anyway and cooked up a nice little dance to these boys:-

  • Where is Channel One J?

  • Hah, the intro to dubheart's track on the album sampler is from Kat's friends' (Smoke City) record, Underwater Love....

  • yeah, its definately at Carnival, my technique is find a free map, buy refreshments, go directly there avoiding imperial entanglements ,

    still good!

Its sad but I haven't been to carnival before, looking forward to this year though. Anyone hitting shaka on the 25th august?

  • Well, in that case, take *m.f's advice: Wandering around trying to get somewhere during carnival is a nightmare. Find your Sound, and stay there.

  • HUUUUH!
