Cool, i take it you just bought the struts seperately and attached them somehow to the base of the tray? Is it attached to the fork crown with a bent strip of metal or something more complex?

That´s not my bike, and i never bought any cetma rack, however they were considered by FGG as being the best on the market. This is a good example:

my bad. i thought the raleigh was yours and you'd built the rack.
fail.
Shouldn't be hard to build one tho... -

i can't decide if those are ridiculously over priced or not. I've worked enough with my hands and an arc welder to know there isn't much labor involved. Materials can't cost much either. Granted they are nice, but they're not art.

that looks like a Wald basket to me. Looks good now, but i'm telling you they are shite. they bend and make a racket. You think i'm nuts, but you'll get 30 lbs in there pretty regularly when you're fetching the groceries. The front starts to bend downward with the weight, and a few rough days later top starts to deform. It happens slowly, but irreversibly.
the more i think about the Cetma racks, the closer i am to pulling the trigger on the 5 rail unpainted. 100 bucks is more than i would really like to spend, but then again it's not like there are tons of great options out there.

I still lust after this one.
I'd just got over that, and you post it again. It's like seeing an ex with a new bloke. Ouch.
Gah, another one below.
budget build
I'd just started a thread about keeping my hybrid going, maybe I should just build one of these as a replacement.

I've looked at those Cetma racks, but the bit that raises above the handlbars puts me off slightly. It's a shame, because they look so functional.

I love my Cetma rack, it's fucking great. Bloody strong too. Plus you get a home-made cookie from his wife with each one.

Get the ones from Tesco. They seem pretty stable to me.

If you check the site, you have the choice to fix it in 2 different ways, baskets go on the HBrs but racks can be fixed on the brake hole. ; )

You won't notice this when the rack is loaded, and it's handy to have an extra bit to wrap the bungee cords round.

Wrong rack, my bad. Cetma ones only attach to the handlebars.

I have one of these racks on my Surly (pssst, it's removable too!)
Or this is a cheap and cheerful option

I promise to take a photo of my Surly "dutch" bike, it has the removable rack, dynamo hub and a coaster brake. It rocks.

yes. i was thinking this during it's lifetime. Handiwork could be done to silence the racket as well.
