  • i find a lot of cycle-specific stuff to be quite overpriced, unless it's something like lycra garments, which aren'texactly 'cool'. you're better off buying high street/outlet stuff imo. not as good as cycle specific stuff but cheaper, more accessible, more choice.

If any of these people rode past me on a bike I would not hesitate in throwing large quantities of litter at them.

  • Well it does look like a square dart board ;)

  • all the nice cycling stuff is for tall and slender people - this i am not.

i'd really like a pair of decent looking cycling trousers, ie something i can ride all day in then pop into the pub without looking like a spandex wearing pseudo cyclo warrior but the problem is i'm a short arse with rather chunky legs. any ideas?

in short: nice trousers, articulated for cycling, pref breathable, fit to suit short arse with chunky legs.

i've already got a pair of gill shorts that are lycra with "regular" shorts over the top all in one - need trousers though.

these look sick but i've got no idea where i'd be able to try a pair on and £110 ain't cheap! they also look like they' be boiling in anything but freezing weather.

I gave up sacrificing comfort and performance for fashion when I started getting grey hairs in my beard. But Sombrio do some more casual looking gear at a good price.

don't have any, but it looks like nice gear

  • How did no-one roast you for posting this? Is everyone a bit peace-and-love today or something?

Lucky for you that you posted this here and not in general - you'd be toast by now if you had.

  • I think everyone has James Martin fatigue and has already expended all their vitriol.

  • It seems James Martin is diverting much of the vitriol.

@OP, I hope the urban cycle clothes you buy turn out to have inferior water resistance to what you were expecting.

  • Clefty!

  • Howies.

However, I do hope that your size is out of stock.

  • always riding is worth checking out.

    Ha!

I only just spotted that monster hate thread.. pah. It's the Daily Mail, why is everyone so surprised?

Howies make nice gear.. Rapha stuff is OK - their 'proper' cycling gear is much nicer than their 'fixed' stuff.

If you want to be really 'cool' you need to get the skinniest lycra jeans you can, sew yourself into them, get a tight black t-shirt with some kind of ironic 80's slogan/rock band and rip the sleeves off. Then back comb your hair, get some bad tattoos and some beaten up old vans, with NO SOCKS (this is key).

To top it off, you'll need to get a track bike with a freewheel, no brakes and some of those dildo handlebars. No need to ride, just push it around and stuff.

    with one of these?

  • pic fail - thats a plough - obviously no good for sowing (or sewing)

  • you want one of these guys really

  • ah. non rural type fail. i thought "plough the fields and scatter" etc and so on.

  • city folk! Next you'll be saying you don't know what the difference between silage and slurry is..
