I love a good InDesign thread! :)

• #29
gots to be better than a "how should i get my hair cut" thread
-
• #30
rather than starting a new thread, how do i do a half with out doing 1/2??
is there a shortcut to get it to look like % for instance -
• #31
put the 1 the / and the 2 in seperate text boxes and arrange accordingly. That's the clunky way to do it.
You can also use subscript shortcuts to reduce the size of the 1 and 2 and then adjust their height relative to the baseline, all available in the text tool bar at the top of the page.

Wrong, a half is a character ("Vulgar Fraction One Half"), if present in body copy you should use your Mac/Windows character palette to insert it where needed.
If you're doing something bespoke, then arranging your own interpretation would be appropriate. Start from the original character as a base though... standards and all that.

inDesign is still shit...
it's a shit load better than pasting up. -
• #37
it worked other than i had to have a white line/stroke around it, and that wouldn't.
so i resorted back to my/madillness' way. -
• #38
that's weird, it works for me... what font are you using?
-
• #39
gill sans T1, it has a stroke, but really thin, it is going over a photo, and the rest of the text (400 pt) has a clear white outline (400 pt)
-
• #40
You sure you didn't select stroke instead? You are a plonker in these matters, Murts...
-
• #41
i know i am, but i selected stroke after i got the 1/2 thing in the right text/colour and size.
-
• #42
Have all the text, including your 1/2 all in the same text box, then stroke/outline it all at once?
-
• #43
tried that, i have botched it altogether now, looks ok

a little bit of me just died…

it isn't bad at all, i just placed the letters over the other one, then wiggled sizes to fit.

well, at least there was a little bit to spare ;)

Sounds like you're doing something that should be treated more as display/artwork? If you screengrab the final area I can tell you an ideal workflow (outlined text, Illy image, text effect, etc)?
