  • Yawn. The article is crap, full of laziness and misinformation. I've read hundreds of articles like this. Don't feed the troll.

Agreed, although I was suprised to see they actually think more people should cycle and that "Cycling is, unquestionably, a good thing.". Unfortunately you have to get past the "fucking red light jumping, undertaking, weaving all over the road, acting like they own the place even though they don't pay road tax"* rubbish to get to a more reasoned view.
    Still a crap article though.

    *Not a direct quote.

  • Oh dear.

    Quote:

"Now I am certainly not racist. Black people are unquestionable a good thing. They're good for the economy and that's good for us.

"With Black British athletes grabbing fistfuls of gold medals at last year's Olympics and a new stadium taking shape for the London Games in 2012, Britain has much to be proud of.

"But being black still remains a dangerous business. Last year, 115 black people were killed in Britain's cities.

    [blah blah]

"We know what happens when people are taught that they are always victims, that everything is someone else's fault. They cease to have any grasp on reality.

"Demonising white people is not the answer. And nor is putting blacks above the law.

"After all, there are quite enough of them who think they are already."

  • I have to agree with the basic point though(t), that crossings should be sacrosanct. Cyclists should be tolerant and give way in every situation where peds are in danger at crossings.

  • ^^^ yeah, absolutely. It's just wrapped up in the usual rubbish and insinuation

  • more piss poor writing. i have ignored more interesting and better writen forum threads

Don't forget the emphasis on danger.

How the hell do they get away with publishing shit like this?

  • ^^ umm. They didn't. I changed some of the words to make a point that probably didn't need making. It was a bit facile really. Sorry.

...think I'll get back to work...

  • I increasingly think that the Mail is to blame here (not an original opinion, I know) but James Martin is obviously a simpleton who lacks the intelligence to understand the impact of the words being credited to him and the author of this latest drivel is, again, nothing more than a mouth-piece for the intolerance that is clearly pervasive at Mail Towers. Maybe we should pity the morons who are simply doing their paymasters' bidding and focus attention on the dangerous individual commissioning this rubbish. Any ideas?

  • so, they are giving the paper away, then?
that is like blaming the drug dealers for all of the addicts.
    nonsense

  • Don't forget the emphasis on danger.

Oliver, what's the LCC's stance on the new 'guilty before being proved innocent' proposal for motor vehicles? I can't find anything on the website :(

I see the point you made and I totally agree. They are saying cyclings great BUT.....
just like any piss weak racist bastard trying to make out that they're not racist. Insert Christian/Muslim/Jew in the same paragraph, then see what hapens next.

We need some of that action.......

We should all form an official religion based around the bicycle, and worship it like any other religion, have sacred texts etc. If we had an officially recognised religion, all this crap we put up with on a daily basis would by law be illegal.

All hail Grand Master Velocio, in all his 531ness

    checkthis out:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion#Definitions_of_religion

In all seriousness I don't see, on the face of it how it could be that dificult to declare a religion. Maybe someone with some legal standing could chime in about now......

  • From the comments on the Robert Hardman drivel posted above:

The number of cyclists careering down London's pavements is horrific.
No one does a thing about it and an average of FORTY an hour speed down the street where I live, every time you open your front door you are at risk of being hit by one. (blah blah)

FORTY an hour!!! So fast the author doesn't even have to give a full unit of speed! Must say though, this *Pavement Keirin *business really sounds like it's got a following in some areas.

  • Haha, I was looking at some of the linkbacks below and some of the forums are like "ooh they're very sweary, serious allegations going on page 4 etc"

  • This photo makes me want to move abroad. Whoever gave this eyesore the go-ahead needs to be put down.

  • i would be awesome* if a ped tripped over one and broke their neck, then sued the council

    *by awesome, i mean ironic

  • Don't know about you but generally speaking I don't rampage down the road.

  • you haven't lived

  • There are so many fucking losers out there, having a little moan. Tossers.

  • This photo makes me want to move abroad. Whoever gave this eyesore the go-ahead needs to be put down.

For some reason, it reminds me of Duke Nukem 3D.

  • who wants to grab some bmxes and jump em?

  • It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum!

    I'm all outta gum.

  • ^^Article says its pedestrianised and not a cycle path.

So let me get this straight. Rather than attempt to stop anyone cycling down the path (which they shouldn't be doing in the first place) the residents decided that it was fine to cycle on the pedestrianised path (essentially a pavement?) just so long as you're not "rampaging"?

    And also:

The yellow and black plastic speed bumps were installed over the last fortnight after dozens of complaints by fed-up residents to Homes for Islington (HFL)...

How do the letters 'H', 'F', and 'L' stand for Homes for Islington? Did I miss something...?

  • Yes I did miss something.

Why does the article seem to be more about the "all car drivers to blame for collisions"* proposal than the actual story here? Bear in mind that the story isn't actually about a road...

*Not what the proposal says but certainly the angle this "newspaper" is going with.
