I went through the tunnel last weekend. Seemed open as far as I could tell.

It was open last Friday.
Mind you there is also the Woolwich foot tunnel which might be more convenient for you, and the Woolwich free ferry.

Work has commenced, Woolwich closed during the day, Greenwich shutting in the night.
For 6 months.
Apparently both open at weekends. -

Both tunnels are open this week, the work starts next week for one week (Woolwich tunnel shut during the day, Greenwich tunnel shut in the evening), but the work will be on and off, all year long.

i went through on monday - no lifts mind

Why do idiots keep cycling through the tunnel?
No stairs at the moment just lifts.
-
• #16
Because it's fun.
-
• #17
it is very fun
-
• #18
Also, I'd have thought "no lifts at the moment, just stairs" to be more noteworthy.. .but... whatever.
-
• #19
But not allowed so why do it? Well once cycles get banned moan then.
-
• #20
I used the tunnel the other day and asked the lift attendant for info.
Current times: Greenwich tunnel is open 24hrs on Sat & Sun and 6am - 9 pm weekdays.

It's only enforced by the lift attendants as far as I know. If the lifts not running the I don' think it's monitored.
I did have one occaision when I had two loaded panniers and walked through because the lifts were running. Someone else rode through so the lift attendant refused to take me as well. Had to haul my bike up the stairs. WAC.

Shut yesterday morning, open in the evening.
Shut this morning and at lunch time today.
-
• #23
Any ideas why? Just nosey like.
-

The lift is bust and there are no stairs.
This happens every winter. Normally, however, there are stairs. The new lifts should help out here, but I've got a sneaking suspicion that the main problem in years gone by is that liftie duvets are sometimes just too heavy to escape from in the mornings.

Anyone know if the tunnel is open again?
Just found out that i will be commuting to woolwich from north london this week coming and searched the forum to find out if the greenwich tunnel was closed (still) as i heard a story that it was being reburbished.
Can anybody confirm that it is still closed? as there were debates ongoing and appeals pending.
