  • I have no problem with...IN FACT I welcome the inclusion of 8sp internal gears. Fixed/SS are incredibly simplistic therefore new innovations are sparse.
Also this forums moves with the spirit of its users; incase you haven't noticed but many established members latest projects are geared bikes so let it slide. If you don't like it don't read it.

  • The LFGSS is simply a London bicycle community that's founded by fixed wheel/single speed cyclists.

  • If one waters down beer enough, you end up with a drink indistinguishable from water.

But some of you wouldn't mind expecting beer, but being given water instead.

    Fair enough.

  • I'm sure the intelligent amongst you shall disagree, but the LEAST EMPHASIS in our forum's name, is on the word LONDON.

The raison d'etre of our creation was for the other part of our name FIXED GEAR and SINGLE-SPEED. This is why I joined.

I have no interest in multi-geared bikes, though they are clearly superior in so many disciplines. But those disciplines are amply discussed in every other cycling forum that I care never to think about.

One gear. Fixed or freewheeling. Or stick a good old Sturmey-Archer 3spd fixed on there, like on the Pearson 150 Special Edition, and I, and I'm sure some others, would approve.

For multitudinous gearing, other forums await with anxious anticipation. This forum does put up with it, albeit with gritted teeth. That's not to say that I hold the same all-inclusive sentiment.

If this goes on, there will be more and more riders that feel this is just another bike forum. It's not. It's the best, and the idea is FGSS.

    jesus christ.

More like going to a bar that sells mostly beer and that is the main reason why everyone goes there. But sometimes those people want a lemonade.

  • That was a really good example.

  • if LFGSS was a bar, ed scoble would be the cocktail waiter, with his special "the silly cucumber"

yeah. so i bet the founders had the idea of a fixed gear/single speed forum? i understand the uses and sometimes beauty (mercian) of gears, but this forum is called fgss for a reason. because its about fg or ss?
i dont like that its turning into a general bike forum. because i can get that 20 to the penny on t'internet. i liked this as a pure fgss forum. pure and simple like the bikes themselves.
and the lemonade? i wouldnt mind a bit. but i would go for the beer. and thats the problem. theres too much lemonade and not enough beer.

Velocio is the founder... you should direct your disappointment to him

You only joined last week ffs! Wind your neck in.

  • "you don't like that it is turning into a general bike forum" - didn't you only join 4 days ago?

  • jesus christ.

    +1

  • the fuji is eyewateringly beautiful in the flesh. I'm not so keen on the team strip tho

  • they look like all-in-one condoms

  • ^ don't know what that means.

(I deleted my negative comments about those bikes as I was happy to actually see some bikes, really. Although I stand by them. Gold, yuck!!)

  • Ah, yeah! This season's team theme is gash.

(I misread your post. Well, didn't see the first reply, only the second - so the condom remark read out-of-context).

  • the team bikes are looking more garish than ever. It was a relief to see the all black with white decals S-Works TT bikes yesterday.

  • Those geared bikes look shit next to this:

it would be homeopathic beer of course.

  • I for once have become more keen on cycling through this forum, but also moved on to a geared road bike for the sports aspect of it, and I see this as a natural progression of some sorts.
I think this is the same for a few others on here, and the geared machines of Velocio, DJ and jaygee for example or beautiful to look at and an interesting topic to talk about.
I don't mind people posting geared bikes in latest projects or anywhere else. Why should forum users (I) suddenly be forced to read and post at bike radar just because it doesn't fit into the fixie paradigm?

That what I like about this forum, it reinvented my joy of riding a bicycle in a different way, and progressed to a road bicycle where I now realise why I didn't enjoy it in the past, I wasn't taking proper advantage of it in the first place.

Look at Pisti, he used to be a brakeless fixie skidder jumping red lighting and weaving amongst vehicles, now he's speeding around Richmond Park on a geared bicycle, who would've though!

okay he still jump red light, some habit never change eh?

I don't like that people who have joined less than a week ago think they know best for a forum that has been ticking along nicely without them for 3 years.

Singlespeeds and Fixed are shit anyway. It's all about Razor scooters.
