  • Does such a thing exist? I just had some of those Quorn efforts and it was a bit like eating a tampon. There was almost a slight boke.

  • Never touched them as they are as right as looks like bacon, smells like bacon, tastes like bacon "Quorn" substitute. stick to Falafal

I have had a vegetarian haggis and it was amazing, so i could be turned.

  • Would you expect a carrot made of meat to taste like a carrot?

  • Good falafel can taste meaty... It suits me as a kebab substitute and it's actually tastier, because it's more going on flavour/texture wise :-)

  • Depends on the life they've led up until the point you feed 'em throught the mincer...

  • cauldron sausages are good, I'm not a veggy but they taste good, to me, but don't expect them to be like a Aberdeen Angus sausage and you'll be happy.

  • It's not a sausage if it doesn't contain MEAT. That's where you're all going wrong.

  • MMmm meat carrots.. thems be the future!

  • why bother with fake meat when the real stuff tastes so good.

  • quorn sausages tastes shit, these though, oh yeah

  • It's not a sausage if it doesn't contain MEAT. That's where you're all going wrong.

    end of.

  • Those vege hotdogs must contain crystal meth seen as i get the sweats/shakes if i don't eat them at least every 6 hours!

crisped up fried onion and mustard drools

theres a hotdog shop in berlin that serves the best vege/vegan dogs in continental europe.

Tommy speaks the truth. Cauldron Lancashire sausages are the best veggie sausage-shaped food stuff available. Period.

Which brand? One version (can't remember which) seems to have changed the recipe and gone waaaaaaaaaay too salty recently :(

  • Does such a thing exist? I just had some of those Quorn efforts and it was** a bit like eating a tampon**. There was almost a slight boke.

I've never eaten a tampon but Quorn sausages are ok ( you do need to cook them though ) . I doubt you could ever replicate a 'real' sausage unless you could find veggie capillary tubes / beaks/ basically all the shit bits left over from the ' nice' bits of the animal. Breadcrumbs and herbs no problem.

  • Quorn™ is made by the devil. I'm a vegetarian and wouldn't touch Quorn™ products even if they paid me. It's just vile, looks vile and smells vile.
I don't buy the whole meat substitute thing either. It's a bit like giving up smkoking with those patches or geting rid of a heroin addiction by replacing it with methadon. If you want to kick the habit then stop taking it. Makes it a lot easier in my book anyway. Veggie "burgers" however I do eat as they can be made using some great tasting ingredients such.

  • too slow!

  • quorn sausages tastes shit, these though, oh yeah

Ingredients Rehydrated Wheat Proteins (35%), Vegetable Oil, Rehydrated Egg White, Rehydrated Soya Protein (13%), Water, Dextrose, Yeast, Salt, Flavourings, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Stabilisers (Guar Gum, Xanthan Gum, Carrageenan), Spices, Colour (Iron Oxide). Allergies Information Contains Gluten, Wheat, Wheat Protein, Eggs, Egg whites, Soya , Soya Protein & Yeast
May contain Nuts & Sesame Seeds

    fake food.
i think i would rather have an egg sandwich made with some some nice wholemeal bread. similar ingredients and protien/carb mix without the added crap. probably better for you too.

  • Thanks diable... I was frightened!!!

  • Which brand? One version (can't remember which) seems to have changed the recipe and gone waaaaaaaaaay too salty recently :(

can't remember the brand, i was served it in a restaurant in Peebles (just on the border) it might even have been home made. the consistency was perfect

  • tofu wieners FTW!

don't go in for fake products much, but these are well tasty esp.with fried onions, mustard, ketchup. also Wicken Fen mushroom and tarragon sausages are pretty good.

  • Would you expect a carrot made of meat to taste like a carrot?

If the pig that made the carrot had been fed nothing but carrots then yes. Hang on a minute! "Hello, is that Dragon's Den?"

  • I've had some decent veggie sausages in the past. The meat substitute ones are crap but as sticks of tasty goodness there are some really good ones out there. Cauldron tofu ones are palatable, they carry flavour pretty well and there are some homemade ones that I used to get on Borough Market that were excellent grilled (didn't take frying too well). I've tried making a few myself with what can best be described as "mixed" results. The ones that held together were a tad eggy, the rest tasted OK but didn't suffer the rigours of cooking for too long. Not sure what additives some of the manufacturers use to keep them together, worth bearing that in mind.

  • Linda McCartney sausages are alright in an emergency. Only downside is they make your burps kiff 7hrs later
