  • tsss, if only i'd known that before. mine was too big and wild, almost had this bad attitude thing going, but i know he's a real nice and soft chap usually.

  • Cliveo; the voice of reason on lfgss in turbulent times.
Glad to hear there was no serious physical or material damage.

  • reeen, are those Shimano nipple rings?

  • dunno really, he mentioned it would be full NJS but did not mention the make.
...and honestly i did not ask.

  • Take it easy out there folks.

, having executed a perfect trackstand at the Essex Road lights

This is a bit of a porker though isn't it cilve?

  • Out of the saddle but a trackstand none the less. Suddenly something has clicked into place and my cleats are a lot less worn that they once were, which is a good thing.

  • i got left handed today. i was riding south on burdett road e14 at the junction with a13. by a police car. no indication. thankfully i had anticipated his possible ineptitude.

i shouted 'use your indicator'. me telling the police what to do. it is usually the other way round. it felt quite good. te he.

  • You clearly didn't leave yourself enough room to brake effectively within this scenario Clive ;-)

Glad you're not too battle scarred and well done for keeping your cool. Hopefully she'll be more vigilant in future.

    Glad he missed you.

  • did you shout 'cunt' ?

  • I returned home from a business trip yesterday. Four days in Monte Carlo:

    3 breakfast meetings
    3 business lunches
    4 business dinners
    4 cocktail parties
    43 meetings

    Thanks for sharing cliveo.
Did you find time to eat ? : )

  • I wish I had your restraint

  • I wish I was not fat and that I didn't have to have so many work related meals at very expensive restaurants that only serve very rich food. What's with gold leaf on chocolate desserts?

At the track day, my daughter Camilla overheard a conversation while I was racing:

"With all the cycling he does, it seems strange that Clive is still so fat."

"He probably just cycles to McDonalds."

    Camilla dutifully told her mother.

  • did you shout 'cunt' ?

nah. i daren't. and i was at work.

i reckon if i had i might have got into more trouble than it was worth.

serious though. would you have ?

  • But is it true Clive?

Oh and surely gold has no calorific content? You could have applied it to your fingernails. Bling.

  • snowy, I do not eat McDonalds. I eat too much but never McDonalds.

  • snowy, I do not eat McDonalds. I eat too much but never McDonalds.

Then why do you cycle there?

    not you - clive

  • That's what I call a 'good crash'.

I had one last monday. Went over the bonnet of a car that was turning right across the path of myself and about 7 or 8 other cyclists. I chose to nobly 'take the plunge' as there wasn't enough time to stop, and swerving would have taken out fellow cyclists on either side.

I scrubbed off as much speed as possible, but still slammed into his bonnet pretty hard.

After picking my self up and checking over my bike (no damage), the driver explodes into a furious outburst. Something along the lines of:

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING, YOU FUCKIN IDIOT CRASHIN INTO MY CAR, YOU FUCKIN CYCLISTS NEVER STOP... etc."

He had pulled across the path of 8 cyclists, for whom the traffic light had just gone green. IE he was totally at fault. By this point I am absolutely furious, and I shout right back in his ignorant face about how it's my fucking right of way, to which he responds:

    "BUT I FUCKIN INDICATED!!!"

Now normally, in crash situations (which are rare for me), I am normally very quiet, just wanting to get back on my bike (if I can) and get out of the situation as fast as I can, no matter how angry I am. In this instance though I found my voice, and absolutely exploded with righteous and apoplectic verbal fury at the driver.

Normally that approach does not work, in my experience. In this situation however, I think it had the desired effect, as the driver was not only completely at fault, but apparently totally ignorant about basic traffic law. He was also clearly the sort of individual who only really takes in what the loudest person says.

So, I put a dent in his ego, and his car, and escaped with only minor bruises and a weird cut to my left wrist (which would have been seriously bad if it had been deeper, I later realised) and no damage to my property. I rode away angry, but deeply satisfied.

    er, sorry for the hijack.

  • asm. Glad you arrospok wasn't damaged.

Nimhbus. No. I was hit by a lady and that would have been impolite. I called her a fucking wanker instead.
