  • Warehouse looks awesome. Good job, Jamie. Definitely roller derby/disco heavy though. I don't think that's really what we're after.

It doesn't hurt to ask. I'll try calling him tomorrow to see how much we'd have to pay for 3 hours after work. If too much, we won't bother. Fingers crossed for better weather.

  • forecast looks ok. stick to PP and save some dollar?

  • Wherever is fine with me, happy to pay, just let me know

  • Danny, Chris,

I had a message from the Bristol guys telling me you havent registered yet, do you want me to do this for you?

Also Chris, where are those mallets you took the orders for? Do i need to pay you or something? Be good to play with them prior to Bristol

  • Weather seems ok so shall we just stick with PP. Would be good to all have a chat together about the warehouse tonight. Riding in so should be there 5ish.

I'm going to be taking it easy tonight as my stomach has bruised up nicely after Sunday's run in with my handlebars!

Mallets: Woodys got shit loads. Badger him!

    Blaze: Bristol. REGISTER!!!!!

  • in for PP. 6 or thereabouts.

Can I have a mallet or three plz Woodsman?

  • Warehouse looks pretty good! Shame about the price, hopefully we can negotiate a better rate..
It is a business after all and they'll be looking to get as much money out of us as possible. I think it would be awesome to look for an abandoned warehouse to make good or a warehouse to rent and make it our own. Anyway, i'll be down from 5ish and we can all discuss then. x

  • Double P for me, bruised ribs and all!!

  • I'm likely to have a spare 700c rear wheel with 22t freewheel installed (and unremovable) in a couple of weeks. It's not very true and some of the nipples are rounded, so difficult to do much about it unless they are replaced which isn't a massive job.

It's free/beers to anyone who needs it.

  • Dibs Tim ( depending if it fits into my frame ) frosty jacks on me ! X

  • Called the scoombers just now. Outside court, after 6, with lights is £23.15 per hour. They will entertain block bookings so I assume there is a saving to make there if we can work something out and the courts are suitable. I suggest we book a couple of hours, see what its like and take it from there. This is obviously in addition to any other ideas people have.

Works out at £3.86 per person per hour assuming there are 6 of us. If numbers increase cost goes down.

I suggest we start collecting subs when we play and put towards funds for hiring the court.

  • Hmmm...still a tenner for 3 hours of polo. That's the same price as hiring the indoor court there, but I think we'll ruin their shiny floor so indoors is...um...out?

    Subs. Finally...

  • to diverge from the court idea for a minuite... Last night was fun, but with light going fast and more players coming out it seems possible to only play a couple of games in a night (Dice only played 2 I think.) we had 13 players and could ahve used both courts but for some reason people still don't have bikes and mallets enough to play. How do we remedy this!

  • OK, I am a moany bitch, I accept that and I also accept that you guys don't have to accept that. If I moan in future just call me out and I'll work on it. Seriously, I love BTN polo and don't like nausing everyone up.

I was complaining about a lack of games the other night, true. I think I had 3 or 4 games so it wasn't terrible and it's a far cry from the old days where we didn't have enough people to play at all! It's a lot to ask people to provide their own bike and mallet immediately. Now we have standards for polo bikes that weren't there when I started and mallet making is a dark art I haven't mastered, it's a big jump for anyone just getting into polo to get all this together AND learn to play! So, maybe we should get a few poloaners going?

  • +1 for poloaners. We must have enough bits between us to cobble a couple of bikes together. Where would we keep them though? And who's going to bring them down?

Games: We definitely need to start timing more. Recent games have overun substantially. We've all got timers on our phones. Simplez.

  • I live closest to the court and I reckon I can bring two bikes at a time. They can also live at my house, on the balcony with a tarp over them.

  • Bikes is OK, i understand not everyone is going to be able to build a bike in a week (unlike our newest Spanish player!), but surely everyone should have mallets by now? Rik or Allejandro poles will last you ages and they only cost £7. I'm more than happy to do a mallet making session at Cranks with people if they want.
I just think it is something we shoould try to look at, with the ability to play on two courts, we should try and use it!

  • I've just fixed the Marin so thats one spare, and I'll fix up the blue raliegh that used to be used as well tomorrow....has anyone got any signs, or do I need to go out on the rob?!

  • Ive got one near here, try n bring it to cranks tomorrow

  • Watch the games in WHBPA live at :http://www.ustream.tv/channel/whbpc2011. I think the most imprtant thin we can egt frm an indoor court is a much bigger court.look at the size of theirs compared to ours!

  • Dope link sir woodrow :) Live polo? From abroad? And live chat? F**k yeah!!!

  • If we get organised, we can make mallets courtside. I haz tape measure/drill/saws...and the threaded rod. It's not rocket science!

    1. Jono will almost certainly have shafts at Bristol.
    2. Order nuts and bolts from eBay.
    3. Buy cheap grip from intersport on North street.
    4. Keep some cork or similar for the handle end
    5. Somebody in town 'liberate' some yellow pipe.

    Job done.

I've organised for Ben Punkture to bring us some poles from London to Bristol if we get them all paid for first.
Cranks has some yellow, I have a bit too. Also check out £1 stores for "surgical tape", its a cheap version of hockey tape
