It's a Verreaux Eagle Owl. Fairly rare. Not fat, just super strong. Its claws were enormous and they squeezed my hand really tightly. Here's another shot of the very same bird (as shot by my girlfriend (the photo, not not the owl...)):

My encounter with a big Eagle owl... remember just thinking that its very sharp and big flesh tearing beak was a bit too close to my soft fleshy face and that it looked a bit pissed off.....
