and tynans is way cooler / brighter !! although on the down side you do need to be hooked up to 240V * long extension cable anyone ? *
-

they should also remarket it as a reusable glowstick.

years ago i was in Dehli
i woke up from a slumber and heard a big commotion outside the hotel so looked out
there was a carnival type parade going on, painted elephants going past the windows, their riders at the same height as my first floor balcony
the best bit was the band that walked past, they all had lights hanging from themselves(we are talking about 60 or 100 watt bulbs) and the trombonists even had strip lights attached to their instruments
the band shuffled in an slightly odd fashion as they walked
20 metres behind was a cart being pushed by someone in the band uniform
the cart had a power generator and there was a cable running up the line of musicians on one side (up their trouser legs and coming out of their sleeves) and it ran back down the line of musicians on the other side
possibly the most dangerous form of illumination i have ever seen
so the idea of the tynan lightsabre is not quite so scary and you could always have a generator wallah following you with a power source

Quite possibly the first use ever, in the history of the English language, of the term "generator wallah"
Outstanding James.

I've had one of these for a year now and it broke. Long overdue I reckon. I like the light but it quite annoying to attach and the bastard detachable tube always comes off resulting on 2 minutes of weaving the cable back into the groove. Yesterday this resulted my pulling the internal wiring out completely. bastard

Weaving the cable back into the groove was well annoying. I had one when they first came out but sold it pretty quickly as it was too fiddly for me.
I know it's too late but a little band of clear sellotape at each end would have stopped it no?

Cable? groove? detachable tube? I have one and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Maybe they changed the design. There is (was?) a red strip down the back that the cable running from end to end slotted into. It came out easily and was fiddly to get back in.
Mine broke after a long day in the rain, but I'd still recommend them as an "on the bag/jacket" light.

had mine attached to the travelling bike for the last ten months, no issue apart from after a while it tends to be a bit finicky to turn off and on, and to switch between lighting states, and just had one of the holding straps split, its still attachable, but its a bit of a pain if I take it off and put it back on again.
people worldwide were amazed by it.. -

the red cable that attaches the black ends together fits into the red groove easily if you take one end of the black off, and guide it in. Its a bit stupid TBH. I reckon a tiny ziptie at each end holding the red cable to the seethrough stick will stop u loosing the seethrough stick. mine's nearly fallen out a couple times while riding.
if you need pics, i'll draw something.
interesting lights, link just sent to me by a friend, did a perfunctory UTFS so am posting it
