For something that must be 35+ years old, you’re right. It does have a couple of small dings, but overall it’s in great nick.

Ha! I once played a gig in a hip warehouse nightclub in Berlin with band fronted by two German brothers. The singer was sure that we'd only been booked because they thought thought we were a hip London band and decided that he was going to pretend to be English and not understand any German. It was excruciating. We arrived for soundcheck and the venue staff were like "Wilcommen!" and my mate... Olaf, feigned a blank expression and said "Sorry vee down't unterzdant tcherman". He had to keep it up until were on stage at 3am. Nightmare.
You actually used to get this with Germans in London quite a lot. They just did not want to be identified as to where they came from, quite often if they rather fancied their English skills, not always with justification, although you often got people who had adapted well to some superficial aspects of accent, such as tone of voice. I'm not very good at spotting accents and generally didn't notice it in people like that until quite some way into a conversation, but the giveaway was usually bad grammar and unidiomatic expression. What always surprised me was how annoyed some got when you asked them about where they were from or if they were from Germany. That Berlin example is rather cringeworthy and definitely worse than anything I've experienced in London. Fortunately, I haven't met anyone like that for some time.

Neck blank for custom bass, not sure I captured the prettiness of the flame as they're screenshots from a video but progress nonetheless!

Not sure! The pickups have quite a bit of grunt, maybe too much for some of my band’s songs. It’s gonna take some trial and error to see if it’ll fit. Otherwise it’ll live in my spare room and be used for belting out 90s indie-rock.

Modifications complete for now, much prefer the black pick-up cover with that scratchplate... Ties the whole room together...
Really enjoying playing this ATM sounds great through the Super Champ... No ragrets... At all...
Still looking for a hollow body, I have envy of @Fatberg's, have put the word out... Ridiculous, I know...

Looking handsome bro. Yep, black is def the way to go.
I'm still digging the Riviera. Such a quirky thing, feels and plays amazingly slinky. Doesn't feel cheap at all. It's got a lower action and is smoother playing and faster than my Tele. Bit of a revelation actually. Didn't think i'd get on with what is a famously a very narrow neck but it feels great to me. Still need to hoick out the harness again which to sort the wiring, which is a pain.
Pickups sound great to me but the bridge is microphonic and will be a problem once I'm up at rehearsal room volume. Shame really cos I like the barky low gain-ness of it. Mid position is perfect for Meters and Grant Green and also keeps making me play lo fi dessert indie like Giant Sand and early Calexico. Been pissing about playing fingerpicked stuff a la Jason Molina covering Townes Van Zandt with a bit of gain, one amp with reverb and the other with slapback and tremolo. so much fun. Might try and post some clips later...

Been on this forum 4 years and I can’t believe I’ve never used this thread. Here’s my current guitar wall, I’m looking at starting to upgrade the HK Strat very soon, to alleviate some quarantine boredom.

Just looking at your Tele neck made me realise just how filthy mine is - its disgusting.
I've been putting off a proper clean up and re string but I think the time is now.

That isn't that bad, my Deluxe is probably dirtier! This one's practically new anyway, it was unplayed when I got it and I haven't put many miles on it yet...
Not a fair comparison... 🙃

Oh boy, Hello Kitty Strats are awesome! I've always wanted to get a Squier Badtz-Maru Bronco Bass... Someday I'll find one at the right time...
Here's a great Hello Kitty Jazzmaster someone built using a pickguard from the Strat.

Fender Custom Shop charges top dollar to achieve that appearance!

Thats my excuse
Tele sounds and feels good at the moment so don't want to ruin it - same strings for probably 5 years or more - regular use. -

You’re a gentleman of exquisite taste. Black definitely better on burst. Very happy with mine, not touched another guitar since I finished it. The jones for an archtop remains strong though...

Gaaahd that is gorgeous! Eastman are my absolutely favourite right now! Wish they'd make a bass. I can definitely see myself owning one of their archtops or hollowbodies in the future though!

Yeah me too - that's one of the cheapest laminate topped ones (AR371) - they're supposed to be fab. I actually like the laminate sound a lot, though if I was ever feeling flush the AR805s are incredible.
Lovely colour - the body looks brand new
