Yeah I know what you mean. I'm really close to having the spec worked out on a custom bass build and paying a deposit and I can't help but having a little voice in the back of my head telling me I should just buy a Fender Player Precision and stick in a set of Lindy Fralin pickups, a Babicz bridge and some Hipshot tuners!

Oh boy! More pictures of this please! Fender mandolin club is finally growing.

Inspired by someone having on on here a few months ago - was it you @Nahguavkire?

What's a type B plug? I don't know anything about power in Aus so can't comment... Amp looks sweet though.
On the previous comments about potential market value collapse in the light of declining interest and ageing collectors... interesting thoughts. Potentially good news for those of us who still (hopefully) have a couple of decades of noodling left in us too. I'm not so sure though. I honestly can't see the fetishisation of golden era classic guitars dropping away any time soon.
Something that I have noticed in recent years is the comparative lack of recent mid-range reissues (take those bargain LP Juniors for example) coming up on the s/h market. I guess they're so affordable now that people don't see them as much of an investment and don't see the value of shifting them when they fall out of use or need to fund something else.
I'm always finding fun things online that I really like the look of in the £4-500 new bracket and thinking, well I can't justify half a grand on that but If could find a s/h one for 300 I'd be well up for it... only to find that there are none available.
I've been round that cycle for Epi Casinos with a bigsby, LP Juniors, Highway 1 Strats etc etc.

I assume you've already wasted/invested a huge chunk of your time on this then?
https://public-peace.de/configurator/jake-cThey're well thought of for the money...
-
• #8034
Oh I have indeed! The one I'm having built is a bit weird though which is my reasoning for going custom build rather than something Fender-ish.
-
• #8035
Oh nice - something exciting about going full custom!
-
• #8036
Wow, nice! If you’re not playing Losing My Religion on that baby, then you need to start thinking about your priorities in life.

considering selling my game changer plus pedal simply because i have no time to get lost in reverb - closest i get to plugged a guitar in is 20 minutes on a sunday afternoon when the kids are napping
https://www.gamechangeraudio.com/pluspedal/
would get £240 on ebay so to save the hassle £210 on here?

These look rad, if I weren't in the custom bass zone I'd be keen for one! glws

Love it, but I’ve spaffed way too much on pedals recently.
Re. plugging in, I play every night after the kids have gone to bed. Amp head (AC15) goes out to a Koch Loadbox, which I connect to my audio interface with an XLR. Mix in recordings of my band’s set to play along to, and listen to it all through headphones. It works remarkably well.

I've just posted in the classifieds but I have a spare ticket to see Cory Wong at Electric Ballroom for this Saturday evening if anyone fancies it, it's sold out online, £20 if you want it.

I'm looking at 335s on Reverb... 😁
-
• #8045
Have you been watching the JHS channel on YouTube? I had a quick look myself, after he said you can get a 335 for $900. What a lot of bollocks, can you fuck.
-
• #8046
Yeah, what a load of bollocks indeed... I'll take two at that price!!

Old 335 Studios are cool. No f-holes is actually a great look.
Also though I'd happily buy an Ibanez/ D'Angelico/ Epiphone/ Eastman 335-style instead of a Gibson. Gibson are all badge.

I'd take an old Greco if I could find one cheap (they don't exist) but I'd love a pillar box red or black Gibbo...
-
• #8049
PS Not buying anything til I've got rid of a couple of other guitars and maybe an amp... I've run out of room til we build a garage... 😇

Same. I’ve got two projects on the go as it is. And one of them is my old Epiphone 335, which is in a state of undress.

Thanks both - will probably pull the trigger on payday next week, seems rude not to at that price.
I did like the Yamaha BB's a couple of years ago, just didn't fancy the PJ configuration - I've gone full old man & only seem to want to play standard Precisions nowadays. I do like how Fender derivatives are easy to modify/upgrade too.
