Love that site. Half way through a fuzz and an overdrive just because they matched some components I had left over. Just needed a few extra ones, then some enclosures, then some knobs. Total money pit but satisfying.

I had the THR10C and it really is great for playing at home. I can’t really remember the difference between the ‘C’ version and the original, I think just slightly different amp sims maybe.

Thanks, it’s actually a black backed jackal head. I picked him up this weekend too, I need to find a spot on a wall for that guy

Thanks, I have a few old acoustics like this which have been saved from random places. I’ll post them up later. Much patina

Money pit is right, although all the extra stuff I’ve had to buy to get this first pedal off the ground has still cost less than if I’d bought a full-price pedal at rrp, and I’ll be able to use it all for future projects. Which fuzz and o/d are you building?

The first thing I made was a cabsim that I never finished as I realised I wanted headphone out, then potentially a dummy load once I bought a valve amp, so that was a waste and made me look at other things to make with the components.
Making a DOD Carcosa fuzz and a Plimsoul as they seemed simple enough. Would really like to make a tremolo, but I should really finish the ones I've started.
I also modded the crap out of my old Epiphone SG and did a bit to the new G&L I just got, so soldering gear never stays dormant for long.

Pick of your G&L? Their stuff really appeals at the mo. Apart from those Z-coils, blurgh.

Apart from those Z-coils
Uh oh...
Jokes, I agree. Will take a pic when I get home. I got a US Legacy standard, then modded it to turn it into an S-500, saving a hundred quid or so over buying new.

An acquaintance has gone very, very big on G&Ls in the last few months... To the point where I think he is a complete fucking mental case...

Don't quite understand people who collect one kind of very similar thing. You do read people talking on the forums saying 'oh yah, of my seven ASATs this one is my fave'.
I just wanted a strat, was willing to pay for my first guitar in 20 years. Found out about G&L, no luck second-hand. Got to a shop with a selection of both US and eastern-made from them and Fender and tried them out.

I've got two and a half juniors, you're right tho', it's a bit silly... This guy seems to buy another G&L every week, very strong hoarding instinct... They're OK but I don't really get it, I definitely wouldn't want to own five of the exact same guitar...

I reckon I could just about justify two of the same guitar, if they were functionally different. Rosewood / Maple, Buckers / SC etc...but I definitely favor variety.
Speaking of which, I've gone 20 years without one, so why do I suddenly have a deep jones for one of these?

My old band (technically on infinite hiatus) just put some music on Spotify, recorded over 2 days back in 2014 so it's nice to hear the results!
Main guitar tone is hot tele -> fuzz factory and/or bluesbreaker mk1 -> plexi half-stack at full blast! A bit of EHX DMM and Mu-tron bi-phase in the last track too.Edit: a link might help https://open.spotify.com/album/1LlMohAXQBwdkrurAGiXID?si=ZsADteawSQOQWkLRTLTtlA

Here's the G&L Legacy/DIY S-500. Switching and MFDs added but used bullet connectors so I can swap back to the alnico pickups without getting the soldering iron out.
Pretty much following what @Jung says; one humbuckers, rosewood, shorter scale; one single coils, maple, longer. I mostly play for my students' A-level recordings so being able to imitate others' sound better was my justification.

That's a great looking SG!

• #6817
Ha, thanks. Not many flame top SGs and as first guitar, will never sell. I think it was £340 in 1999. Everyone else was buying the cherry red ones, I just had to be different.

The zebra pickups look great with it too. Not a bad first guitar!

It’s an Eastman AR810 - they’re rather lovingly hand made in China. Great rep apparently (typically I’d never heard of them.)
I’d love one eventually but have to get another Tele first....I miss the last one already.

Eastman make very very good guitars! Wouldn't say no to one myself although the dream would be a Collings jazz box some day...

Lovely - the blonde finish is killer. One day would be nice.

Getting my old Kalamazoo/Gibson back on Saturday, turns out a previous luthiers had done a bit of a hatchet job on it and totally sawn off the dovetail in the neck which is probably why the neck collapsed into the body resulting in a super high action... I'm told by Matt's Guitar Service that it plays like butter now... Can't wait to get it back but I'm so fucking broke, wish I hadn't put this in when I did...
In other news, Kim has told me he really doesn't wanna make another flame scratchplate, I get it, he made two last year and they're a massive pain in the arse to fabricate going by what he says... He's given me instructions on how to do it which gives me carte blanche to create as exact a replica as I can... Kim would've reimagined/created something new anyway, I just want the exact thing!!!

I have Tele withdrawal syndrome. Anyone built a partscaster? I reckon I could put together something properly fancy for 800 with bits from Musikraft or USACG. Throw in some fancy Suhr or Lollar pups. Hmmm....

Go for Warmoth, their stuff seems really great. The only thing that's ever put me off is that I'd be crippled with excise/duty and VAT buying it in from Ireland. I've often thought about booking a cheap flight to Boston or New York and having all of the bits delivered to a hotel to build one up and bring it home with me. You're in Cali though right?
They do some great sales too so if you keep your eyes peeled and you're not super fixed on spec you'll build a really nice Tele for reasonable money...
Personally I'd build a Jazzcaster though...
Painted alder Jazzcaster body - $295
Roasted flamed maple Strat neck - $277You'd certainly build a lovely guitar without the pickups for $800, just depends what pickups you want then... Lindy Fralin though...
Love the patina, looks ace...
