My MIM tele was the best playing in the shop, even compared to £3k custom shop jobs. Pickups were a bit weak but that’s a £100 upgrade!

I always forget about cases. And subsequently just remembered a couple of guitars I forgot I had languishing in thier cases.

Gilmour’s guitar collection... there’s a viewing at Christie’s in March. Are they open events? I’d love to see them, even though I imagine everything would be out of my price range. All proceeds going to charity, which is wonderful.

Has he still got the 0001 Strat?
-
• #6482
Yup. Until the sale...

I'm sure they'll all be out of reach to mortals. I'd have thought the viewing would be open - at least I can't imagine you'd have to demonstrate an intention / ability to buy to register and get in.
I think you have to buy the catalogue to see them, but there's a couple here:

Ignoring any Gilmour connection, obviously that #1 Strat is a bit special, but the '55 catches my eye.
edit: thanks for posting this btw - I'm tempted to go and have a nosey

Estimate €100,000-150,000 is conservative surely?
-
• #6485
I imagine so - I think it's overvalued for the guitar (which is expensive nonetheless), but once you're in the business of bidding for kit with that much provenance I can't imagine that there'd be much difference to your finances no matter what price it went for.

If anyone hears details on the viewing, pop them up here.
-
• #6487
I just phoned them :) It's a public viewing on those dates, so you can just rock up.
-
• #6488
Brilliant! Thanks. I shall be doing exactly that.

I just got my first pedal which doesn't take a 9V battery. Is there any reason I should start to run them all on a power supply rather than get a single one?
-
• #6490
The reason I did it was because I went pedal crazy and wanted everything velcroed down and organised on one board... Totally up to you but I'd say that if you're gonna be using four or more pedals a board with a power supply just makes life easier...
I still haven't gigged mine... Shame!!!

I've taken the leap - got a RockBoard Rechargeable Power Station LT XL, recommended by a friend. Yet to get a board, but doubtless it's in my future.

Does anyone want to sell me a Line 6 DL4?
I'm at the part of the cycle where I want to buy one again.
Maybe a simple looper pedal (Boss RC-1?) together with my delay would cover the same bases, but I know where I am with a DL4.

Jim Dunlop passed away today. I've used 1mm Nylons forever.

Also,
Word. Good Mex are incredible. My Fretless MIM Jazz is the best I've ever played.
That epoxy fingerboard glow <3
I really want a maple fingerboard, alder Precision though... or a Fodera Monarch P Classic.
Topical wallhangers.
