Thanks for the kind wurds dudes. Means a lot actually.
I'm nowt but positive about the future to be honest. There was a lot to love about being in that band (mainly hanging out with truly great friends... and getting to boss them about) but in truth i made the decision to bale months ago and all the stuff we've done in the intervening time has only strengthened my conviction that I needed a change. Feels like a weight has lifted.
Latest plan is to write unlistenable fuzzy psych folk under the name Clammy Wynette.
PS - loving the music argy-bargy above! Will join on once firstborn is in bed.

Well I know what I'm learning all Christmas

Good luck, it’s well beyond me at the moment.
He has a ‘tutorial’ for Fame... Shows you the bass/rhythm part, then the lead part, then just plays them at the same time just like that! As if working out the separate bits was the hard part. -

If I can manage a shit version that'll make someone laugh it'll be worth it!
Edit: I think it's drop D tuning and the bass part doesn't seem too hard by itself. But I only spent 5 mins looking at it.

My mate played me their pre-electronic dayz power pop stuff the other day, I'd never heard it before and I absolutely LOVED it...

Hey, Mr Squash, did you ever do time on the Plan B Mag boards?
On unrelated and bad taste but brilliant matters: https://youtu.be/cgY8a5Q0AFE

Pubrock!
It's competent suburban pub covers band schtick. Only posted it because of the satisfying disconnect between someone who looks like a retired headmaster rocking out the joyous and flawless 80s rock widdles

That video like watching Rick Stein rockin' out

Alright kiddos. Had a great time last year doing a trashy instrumental surf noir type thing with a few folks On Here - real life got in the way of the band but the songs are still there.
If anyone plays primitive bass or decentish surf guitar, noise me up. Would love to get it moving again.

So Ive got a 2006 US Strat that could maybe do with a little setup - bit of buzz on top E on first few frets - but I'm largely clueless about electric guitars. Is it easy to find someone reliable in south London to look at it? Is it a big job?
Ashamed to say I've tweaked nothing at all since new. Haven't even changed strings... Happy to change strings on acoustic, and do so regularly, but the Strat always felt a bit intimidating to mess with.

For proper electric set-ups I would personally hop a shuttle and visit Jon & co in leafy Croydon... http://www.felineguitars.com/repairs/fretwork.html . Worth it, they'll see you right.

It's an easy job to do yourself. Probably be a tutorial on YouTube

Its not always that easy. Buzz on the first few frets implies that the nuts too low doesn't it? It's not that straightforward to fill (then file) or shim the nut - raising the bridge might help but then the action changes more.
I'm terrible at setting up guitars - always think it's worth taking it to someone who knows.
edit: assuming no fretwork needed
Ha, should've added the second part of that quote:
We'll always try to discuss what we like, it's part of the human experience. But I think any answers are only ever an approximation.
