  • Chaps - per the advice on here, I bought my son a looper (Boss RC-3 on Amazon Black Friday sale). What will I need, other than a 9V battery, so that he can use it on Xmas day? Are there any leads etc that I will need, or will it all come in the box?

  • If he's using it with an amp and only has one long-ish jack lead, he'll need another.
    Guitar > lead > pedal > lead > amp.

If he already has a pedal or two, some short patch leads never hurt so he can hook them all up at the same time. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stagg-SPC030L-30cm-Patch-Cables/dp/B003N21SJE/ref=sr_1_6?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1479327258&sr=1-6

  • Looper/delay pedals are power hungry, you may want to get a cheap power supply as well... A One Spot would be fine...

It's gonna cost a fortune in batteries otherwise...

  • if he has a guitar and an amp already (and therefore presumably a guitar lead) he will need another guitar lead. One from the guitar to the pedal, one from the pedal to the amp. Just get a cheapy one for a couple of quid from anywhere.

  • Tim's set up more Jaguars in the last thirty years than you've had hot dinners, I know whose opinion I trust... 😘

  • Thanks guys! Power cable and lead on order...

  • Just found a brand new Boss DD-7 at a really good price, should I?

Guy wants $170 but sure he'd let it go for $150...

  • The more I think about it the more I want an analogue delay... Ideally, I'd get a Copicat... RE20 it is then...

I'll stop bothering you all now...

  • Were I to go back to an offset Fender, I think it'd be a white mustang over a white jag.

  • I'd get a Duo-Sonic over a Mustang... Cute but not quite there for me...

    Anodised pick guard... Le sex!

  • It is true that the saddle pieces allows the string to move around more than a single saddle slot would. But whether you see it as a problem is kind of up to the way you see the guitar. The way I see the Jag is that it's the last guitar Leo Fender ever designed. His guitars get more complex as he goes - from the Tele to the Fender to the Jag. The Jag is the 'throw everything in' guitar - it has more options on it than any other guitar of its time. And that's the way I see that saddle piece. Being able to move those strings around if you need to is actually really handy sometimes and even if it's a bit fussy, it fits right in with the whole concept of the Jag. The Jag is a living guitar, from the moving bridge to the floating trem, the whole thing moves with you. I've never played anything like them.

I think the other important thing to bear in mind is that a lot of how much those strings jump around is down to how thick your strings are. If you use the thick strings that this guitar was designed for, they stay where they are. Sure, if you use 9s and the like, you'll need to file down the saddle pieces - but I always think, if you're using 9s on a Jag then you're making Dick Dale cry. And no-one makes Dick Dale cry.

    A-fucking-men!!

  • I love how guitars are so different, one makes you play one way and another transforms you into a completely different guitar player... IME, obvs...

I've really fallen in love with vibrato, very late in life but it's hit me quite hard... I'm really enjoying playing music again and a lot of that has to do with discarding the way I used to play and embracing the new... Can't wait to get my own Jag, I'm becoming a little self-conscious that I'm grabbing that '66 Jaguar off the wall every time I go into Tim's shop...

    Lovely... #bitpissed #sorrynotsorry #earlynight

I find this a lot when switching between my les paul and my tele. Seem to play them in very different ways and with a different approach on each. Does mean I'm always hopping from one to the other recently though :)

  • I tend to get into full-on shred mode on my Les Paul, ultimately dull and unsatisfying... My Tele makes me play much more tastefully, thoughtfully and precisely... The Strat turns me into an atonal fuzz monster... 👹

  • ^^^word.

I have a Les Paul exclusively for drop C stoner fuzz mischief. It's brilliant for that.

  • I find its more chords, songs and progressions when on the tele

MASSIVE FUCKIN' RIFFS on the les paul.

  • Currently only got one guitar out and it's living in CGCGCD tuning (the Nick Jones Penguin Eggs tuning). More or less got the hang of Canadee-I-O now. Given that's it's more or less all i've played for three months now I should hope so too. Caught my missus rolling her eyes when i started playing it again the other day. I'm still not tired of it though.

  • Anyone want a Wilco ticket for Brixton on Saturday? Got one spare.

  • Can't... gigging in Penzance. The glamour.

  • Have you asked Aram?

  • I asked Facebook. I'll PM him.

  • @rickster

Beats Sunday night down the Windmill (sorry Tim). Enjoy!

  • Hi, I'm looking for a Gibson SG.
My mum has decided to get my dad one for Christmas and she has asked for my help.
I realise I could just go and buy a new one online or from guitar guitar/ GaK etc. But knowing my old man he would prefer second hand or lightly gigged !!.
Only two things must be cherry red and have P90's.
Does anyone have one for sale or know of one ?
