Laney LC15r an option? I don't know what they're like these days but the early ones are pretty good. Absolute monsters cranked into a 4x12 but good clean tones to be had at a more sensible volume.

Or buy a used Twin Reverb and A/B that? That's what I used to do BITD... Also stuck an Ice Cube™ in the back (goes where the spring reverb would normally plug in) to give me an extra gain stage, that turned it into a ghetto three channel amp... Sounded great...

As per usual when it came to deadline panic I just plugged straight into my Duet and used the Softube amp models. It's for a happy clappy sepia-tinted foodie festival ad. They won't notice. I will but hey. Time was of the essence.

A year ago I was on the same spot as you.
I discovered the Bugera V22. It's a bit chunk (19kgs), 2 channel with boost, reverb and a turbosound speaker.
For the amount of money that you mentioned above you can get a new one. I have plugged various guitars and I wasn't disappointed with the outcome.

Played a gig with the band at work today (MeowRocket, two young disabled guys and two able bodied guys)... I had no idea what I was doing, winged it all the way through... Played my Tokai Str*t through some Fender thing drenched in analogue delay, reverb and tremolo... Bloody good fun, would bang again...
