That photo is twisting my melon… what’s holding the strat up?

• #13403
There’s something on the strap buttons.

The insulation paint has diverted the magnetic field so it just sticks to a metal plate on the wall.
(it's on those so-called invisible hangers - a bit of plastic that both of the strap pins clip into)

I want some bits for my guitar. Is there a reason why I should head to a specific shop in Denmark Street, or should I pick one at random?
-
• #13406
Denmark st has changed so much -There’s only a couple shops left. If just general bits I went to guitar guitar in Camden before Xmas and was fine.

Yeah depending on what you need it might be a struggle to get it at Denmark Street, the smaller shops at least, might be ok at Music Room. I've been in a couple of times to look for something and they've just looked on their computer and said they can get it ordered and delivered in a couple of weeks each time. If you're nearby though might as well just start at one end and go to each until you're sorted.

I quite like Wunjo, but it depends what you're after.
I'm not a huge fan of the Guitar Guitar store in Camden. They had a lot less stock than I was expecting and the staff weren't massively helpful.

There’s only a couple shops left
There's more than a couple now, after most of the rebuilding has been completed. Though no synth shops apart from the Roland one.
Wunjo has good reviews, so I'll try there first. I'm after some bridge bolts, and that little thing that goes on the end of Strat choosing pickup switch.

Take some tools in and get them off the guitars on the walls when no one is looking. Easy peasy.

Went into many shops on Denmark street; none of them sell bridge bolts. Andy Gibson at 66 Sounds was helpful, but alas, no bolts.
And I spotted bugger all left-handed guitars.

I finally got an eq.
Convinced myself that 2 is best, atm just exploring the pedal from guitar straight to amp. I really like the second from left or right boosted, (the pedal is never the right way round!) everything else flat and neck pickup.
It was very alive.
The plan is to have an overall eq and another around (before or after I dont know yet) the dirt boxes.
Any sounds I should be dialling in first? -

This is cool, Markus of Reeves Electro doing a collab with Fuzzdog to make a kit version of his Supa-J fuzz:

1 year playing classic guitar and 3 days of electric for me folks : )

How are you getting on with this? Decent prices

Really happy with it. Good partner for the Jazzmaster for shoegazey tones. Not tried it properly with my P90 guitars yet, but I think it’ll do darker doomy fuzz pretty well too.

Lot going on in this new Jazzmaster here, blimey.

This gets odder the more you read the specs. I think I love it

It’s something, isn’t it. They could just have put gold foils in a JM, but they went 3 pickup, Bigsby, Jag switching, mahogany body, ebony fretboard, block markers, candy paint with a burst fade and a painted headstock. And yet it somehow works.
Bet it weighs a ton.

That is incredible.

If it only had the trad tremolo system and a short scale jag neck, that'd be my ideal guitar.
-
• #13423
Weird they went for every option available on the guitar but then the bass version is just a Mark Hoppus sig with a single gold-foil in it.
I'd be interested to hear one of the basses as I've never seen/listened to a bass live with gold-foils in, I feel like they're more of a guitar thing but I saw a shop demo video the other day & it sounded pretty cool - like a vintage short-scale type sound.

Oh this is really really great!! The bass version too!

I think both colours of the Tele look sweet too. The price is… punchy, though.
Finally sorted the Squier Strat (though I still need to set it up properly) and tested it through the amp. Anything below three quarter volume and it's got zero hum whatsoever. Above that and you can ever so slightly hear an extremely faint bit of hum, but it's barely audible. Happy with that insulating paint. Now taking centre stage on the wall.
