  • I don't think Rich would mind me sharing this reply from our chat on FB here. This was the second message he sent me, the first being the price. He's an absolutely top bloke and the only possible justification for refinishing yourself is simply that you want to because you'd struggle to even do it yourself at material cost for what he does!

  • Speculative, but don't suppose anyone's got an acoustic bass they're looking to move on?

  • Strings Direct are good for online goodness

  • @rickster yeah that’s the bit I’m talking about. I’m sure the CBS era ones were that shape there, making the angle at the heel a much shallower curve. Something to do with making it easier for the routers...

  • Nah, you’re right. Even the CBS ones weren’t straight there.

  • Close tho!

  • Yep, close! The final turn towards the neck grew way shallower in the 70s but on mine it's the bit leading into that which offends.

    Thanks for indulging my nerditude.

  • I'm at peace with my nerditude. It's beginner level really but i enjoy the nerding out as much as the playing. Anyway i'm only a part time guitarist these days. at least half my musical downtime is piano based. I'm a terrible (one finger bass) player, but man i'm enjoying learning.

I got the complete Beatles scores for Christmas and i'm learning a couple of new ones a week. So far faves are Something, Hey Bulldog, Long and Winding Road and I want to Hold Your Hand. only cos my two year old son has massively glommed on to this song and insists on it being played over and over and over again. He also thinks it's called "I Want to Hold Your Hair" which is added value for me.

Imagine a tiny hyper punchy blonde mop-headed human who looks a bit like a 90cm Brian Jones singing "oh please, say to me, you'll let be your maaaan".

  • If anyone has an octave (down) pedal that they're looking to move on, I'd be interested. Anything considered, although I probably won't be spending loads.

  • Repurposed the tuners from the Custom 22 and did a headstock upgrade on the Santana SE and it looks v. nice!

Strangely I feel like PRS fans won't flip their shit over making it into a "fake" USA PRS as it's so obviously not a USA model...

Anyone want to buy it? Going to advertise it today but obvs happy for first dibs and good rates here.

  • I'm not a fan of PRS guitars but that's a tidy job you've done there... 🤘

  • Thanks man! It does look nice, it's a lovely guitar but I'm just finally trying to downsize and consolidate the collection a bit by only have some particularly nice things so it may go!

  • Some fun pedals here, and a well and truly 'reliced' guitar. TFS are ace too.

  • I love that Erica plays that little Mustang with those skinny humbuckers in it and it fucking growls!! I love their noisy guitar stuff, Gareth Liddiard annoys the crap out of me but you can't argue with the tunes... Way better than The Drones ever were...

  • Digging this (and the book stack). Shall I?

  • If I had the spare cash I’d be considering it, I keep having my head turned by SGs and the faded satin finish is wayyy better than the gloss on Standard models for neck feel (IMO)

  • Would have to sell some shit.

  • Anyone want to buy some shit?

  • I have negative spare cash

  • Quite into that (shame about the tippex tho). Do it, if you can solve the cash equation.

  • That's a lot of money for what looks like a pretty bog standard SG... They're normally a lot cheaper than that IME...

    So love white guitars...

  • Can anyone suggest an amp tech in London that can work on a tube bass head please?

My ampeg pf50t has developed a more noticeable than usual hum & a random scratchy noise (like a dusty knob being turned but nothing is being touched). I've just moved house so maybe it didn't fair well in the van.

  • If you're North North and Harlow isn't too much of a stretch up the m11 I can recommend http://www.sickamps.com

  • £312 for that Boss / Sola Sound Tone Bender collab…

    https://www.andertons.co.uk/boss-tb-2w-waza-craft-tone-bender-fuzz-pedal

    Hot takes please

  • They look like exactly the kind of company I need, bit of a mission from SE London with no car though!

If nothing closer crops up maybe I'll pop up there on the train once lockdown is eased.
