I spent the last three weeks in Hong Kong and didn't see one FG, which is strange becuase I know there is quite a big scene there... I was basically around central and on the island the whole time I was theree and from what I could gather the FG scene seems to be elsewhere... I know from the HKFixed website that they have rides in Sunny Bay in Lantau sometimes and I know Brian Kwan's shop is up in Tsuen Wan in the New Territories I think but HKFixed shop is in Sheung Wan on HK Island, I didn't get a chance to visit but make sure you cal or e-mail Brian if you want to visit as he only opens on request, it's not open everyday...
Basically I think if you want to meet up with some FG folks you'll need to get in touch with them via the HKFixed forum or something and go along to one of their rides.
Hong Kong is sick though, majorly cool city!

Ride up the Peak fixed and down it brakeless. Mid-afternoon is the best time for this.

Yeah I'd recommend that...
Actually you will see a lot of Sunday cyclists out racing on the island and they all ride Cervélos and Looks and othersuch nice things...

Go for an expensive drink in the Felix bar, just so you can have a piss there. It's awesome.

best place for camcorders?
I'd say Stanley Street in Central would be a good bet... Go to Skyphoto and try and deal with Ricky, nice guy!
I'd recommend eating in Sushi Kuu some day, it's in Wellington Place. Also if you have someone who reads Chinese with you go to Luk Yu teahouse for a pretty authentic old school chinese tea house, also on Stanley Street, for Dim Sum, they do have an Engrish menu but it makes no sense...
If you want to go clubbing and go somewhere fancy I'd recommend Dragon-i on Wyndham Street in Lan Kwai Fong, it's pretty cool but mad expensive, I wasn't paying for anything when I was there but it's just magnums of champagne left right and centre and some serious messiness!
If you want a really good Sunday Dim Sum I'd recommend Fook Lam Moon which is in Wan Chai.
It's a cool place though, enjoy!!

get your electrical gear from Mong Kok or Sham Siu Po - cheapest in town, either the Wing Shing or Wong Shing (???) stores l think they're called. They are %100 legit, check you have the international warranty and all that AND haggle! depending on HK$ your spend they will throw in extra gear and haggling is part of the HK shoping experience! AVOID Nathan Rd. Cantonese local will be handy.
Check Flying Ball for Rd/MTB bling.Get yourself out to the NT - waaay better than LWF!!

I just came back from Hong Kong.
In 6 weeks, I saw ONE fixie. It was completely rusty and being pushed along by an old man doing grocery shopping. -
• #17
i think there's something like 12 regular fix riders who only get together once a week. 12 out of a population of 7million! more likely to see shopper beater bikes or old men on flying pigeons hauling market goods in urban areas, MTB in the NT.

Nah, not a local unfortunately but would love to be at some stage. My Mrs. is from Hong Kong so I was just hanging out with all her mates and her family so I kind of skipped the touristy phase and spent my time there doing normal(ish) everyday stuff... You'll love it there though, it's a kick ass place!

I'm going on Sunday for a week, can't wait!
Came in work yesterday, my boss: "I'm off to Hong Kong on Sunday, fancy coming?"
I've only been here a few months: "Are you a big drinker Gray?" "Kind of" "Good, we'll have a few days working then we'll have a few days boozing!"
RESULT!
