    Repped!!!

    Amazing song.

  • A big thank you to John for a well organised and really fun night!
Was good to see familiar faces and meet new ones too.
Will put pictures up on my profile soon
    G

  • and dimi3, sorry to here that, hope you're alright. where you near the junction of clerkenwell road & st john street? saw someone pulled over/talking to the fuzz, you?

    Yes, that was me.
I'm ok, left side of my face is swollen and a black eye.
Bike surprisingly looks ok, when it got ran over by a car, judging from the sound they made, i thought i'd need to find an alternative way how to get home.

It was a great night anyway. I enjoyed myself to the fullest. When's the next one?

  • I hope the bang the guy up who attacked you. Shitty end to a fun night!

  • Ha! I made it in the end! Shame about the lack of watering holes at the end but hey what are you gonna do? This is London my friend. Big shout out to Reeen for guiding me in like a homing missile.

    yo wooord, any time!
loved it, i mean the whole thang. precisely timed arrival, precise fast bits, precise rear wheel lockups, total loss of balance at a junction with unstrap bail fail ;) missing club entry by 20min, hacking it to new X for one last glass only to be 10min late. on a side note, it seems screaming_girls happens rather frequent riding with timmeh and meee.

...and ja, there was Nelson M. contemplating whether or not to put brakes on that fixed gear bicycle, hmmm.

sorry to hear ... well, read actually, about some car+police mayhem. hope it's all fixable and you're ok. but then, yeah, all great fun as it seemed. big thanks go to john for this one. it was a pleasure *devoutly _nods_head.

    Home!
Good ride good ride. It was 30km from parliament sq and back again - i tracked it like some nerd.

oi, that gives me good 66km this eve for me evening spin while still feeling the Rolla's aftermath during accelerations *ouch
... so today, i only oil me slack chain and google bike parts.

... and ja, of course ^NERD!

  • Yeah the end race/underpass was most enjoyable. I've always been a bit uneasy to go under it til now.

  • Thanks for John for a such a great ride. That was my first ride with the forum and I had a really fun time / met a lot of people. Mashing through the Euston Underpass at the front of the pack was a definite highlight! Managed to stack it outside a party later on by forgetting I was still strapped in and nailed my arm, but so worth it for a night that good! Thanks again...

  • Wooop
Shame to hear about the crashes/altercations :(
But it was a great ride! Fair weather, good numbers, nice pace, lots of sights, racey bits, nelson mandela holding a fixie :D
Also good thing we didn't all get totally lost near Aldgate ;)

Thanks very much for the organisation!

  • cheers for the ride all, the tesco stop was def genius.

There were a few weavy wavey folk forgetting to look over their sholders, shame on you!

    • 1 to that bro, having said that the closest i think we both got to bailing was the two of us getting a touch wobbly on it.

rude cheers for the ride home, was emotional.

  • You were wobbly whilst stationary by the end dude! :)

  • Just upped a video on Vimeo.
But it's incredibly too dark now :|

-1 to this. Certainly look out in front and to the sides, indicate and make your moves in a clear and smooth manner - but those behind you need to look out for themselves. I appreciate this might not sound very right on but it's more realistic. If everyone spent the night looking over their shoulder in a pack that large I think there might have been many more crashes.

Generally I think in most crash situations (as a cyclist, motorist, pedestrian and skateboarder with a good few crashes in my past) everyone is way too reluctant to take responsibility. Of course you can always blame the other guy/girl, and usually one party is a bit more at fault. BUT - if you get in a crash, you almost always had some sort of opportunity to prevent or avoid it which you didn't see or chose not to take. Understandably, it's very difficult to take this view in the heat of the moment.

    Just one person's opinion.
    Of course thi

  • ^ It is possible to have a crash and for it to be completely somebody else's fault. I see what you're trying to get at but I'm not buying it.

  • ^me neither

  • nor me

Lets think about that a second...
Lets imagine that you have just passed me on my right (overtaken on the correct side) and your back wheel axle is in line with my front axle. You move across left to avoid a pothole/car/whatever, without looking behind to see where I am, simply assuming that you are well clear of me. In doing so, your back wheel collides with my front, throwing me off into the path of the other riders.

I wish I was making this up, but that exact scenario has happened to me (not on a ride from this forum, I must add)... It's scary as fuck. If the other rider had shoulder checked, injuries might not have happened...

Moral of that story: it IS a good idea and you SHOULD check behind you before you move in a group. Think ahead and move as early and predictably as you can.

  • Great ride, Mr. MackAttack. Thanks to all, especially NurseHolliday.

    Was good to meet you!
