there's a massive thread on converting pugs - you won't get the best reception on here without reading that and sheldon brown.

Find a lake, then throw the frame into it. Then run naked and wretched through the streets of London screaming incoherently and self flagellating with an inner tube.

i was only asking as i would like to get my bike up and running but i suppose your typical london wankers go wank off each other and stop dressing like geography teachers oh and for fuck sake liven up a bit

You may find the 53 too high on the front - depends which cog you're having on the back, but you should aim for around 70 gear inches.
i find i spin out at 73 gear inches :S -

There are plenty of threads answering your question if you use the search properly, so chill the fuck out and spend a bit of time reading and working stuff out for yourself. If you can't be bothered to do some research want everything done for you then go to a bike shop.
Now where was that jizz covered tweed jacket with leather elbow patches...

Nice :)
Remove all gears + cables. http://everything2.com/title/How+to+build+a+fixed+gear+bicycle
Look into chainline (read the whole site). http://www.sheldonbrown.com/chainline.html
Buy new rear wheel/hub (off ebay or here if you want it cheap). http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=fixed+rear+wheel&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Ahem! It's Mr Wanker to you....!!! and for the record we're not all bad, generalizations like that won't get you any friends at all....!!! for the record...
Where might you be from that's so high and mighty and 'better'/'cooler'/'hipper'/'smarter' than London!!!???
it's really not a competition.... :(So, you'd like some help? There's a little thing goes round here called utfs.
but just to be extra helpful i've taken the trouble to do that for you.
http://www.londonfgss.com/thread11067.htmlI hope this will help you and i wish you every success on your build! always good to see more single/fixed

a ghost ring?
I've never seen this done. Does it work?
technically it seems to work but it seems to have the side effect of people shouting 'you fucked it up extra cog guy' at you, if you're ok with that, go for it... -

er.. at the risk of the guy at the EHCBP ch'ships being dangeruss himself and me looking a bit silly - I do seem to remember the guy with the ghost cog explaining to his rapt audience that it only works on a certain principle, namely that you have to have a certain chainring up front to create the right space to fit the (certain sized) ghost cog in to run effectively as a tensioner...am I along the right lines even though I'm not being very technical? or am I talking out my sorry arse?
