One of the most egregious things I've seen was a man standing on the edge of a pool, pissing in. I think that getting into a public pool, you know what you're getting into but it really brought home the reality of swimming in a huge, chlorinated toilet to me.

Sadly Edinburgh Council removed this and a few of the other ones.

Hopefully at least one of the council members found themselves at the beach with a inadequately sharpened pencil.

Can any Poles shed light on the difference between Polish and British flour?
-
• #91119
There is no self raising flour in Poland.

I had this conundrum during the first lockdown when supplies were short. Local shop only had polish flour. Even my polish friend struggled to explain it. Closest we could work out was that out of the two types, one was better for cakes and the other for bread, but didn't exactly compare to self-raising vs plain.

Bread flour is different from flour for cakes in England, it's the cake flour which comes in plain or self-raising versions.

Right, what's your point?

• #91123
This has really turned into a chatty thread

We have the same in China, there's bread flour, cake flour and steamed bun flour. No self-raising flour. As I type this, I am remembering that you are from NI and I hope you pronounce "flour" like Nadine from Girls Aloud.

what's your point?
That trying to explain the difference between bread flour and plain flour to somebody who is expecting the conversation to be about plain flour and self-raising is bound to be tricky 🙂
