I'd love that to be the case too, but the ultra jaundiced, todler handed, fungus dicked loser based his whole appeal on being a big, strong, alpha male, and a lot of people went with it and seemed happy to ignore policy or ideals, plenty was said about those but stupid hand jokes annoyed him, and "stories" about him being shit in bed probably also annoyed him and might've reduced some of his "appeal".

meme world is very much at that level. From what I know of even slightly intelligent American voters, the memes don't actually make much difference, and they vote based on policies. That Hilary lost and Joe nearly did isn't down to chimps liking the gorilla, it's ordinary Americans holding their noses and voting for anybody but the Democrat because they really hate what the modern Democratic party stands for, and not even on what the media likes to talk up as hot-button issues of social policy but on the fundamental philosophical question of the proper role of the Federal government in ruining their lives.
