I knew a guy whose wife was such an animal lover (even though she was a meatist) that she wouldn't let him destroy wasp nests. Whenever the occasion for removal came, he would climb a ladder (the nest was usually under an eave) carefully remove the nest without disturbing the inhabitants and relocate it to a safer (for all) venue.

In 2005 on a hot summers day my mum, sister and I walked into the kitchen to find the windows and every flat surface blacked out with flying ants. They were literally 3 deep crawling over each other on every inch of space. It was like something out of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I tried spraying some Raid on them and the bodies of the dead were replaced before they could even fall to the floor. Luckily they were fairly docile so we took everything we could out the room without disturbing them too much then called in the fumigators. Apparently they were living dormant in the foundations of the house for years and it was just bad luck they decided to make an appearance while we were living there.

^^ I initially took 'animal lover' to mean she was a bit of a beast in the sack...

I spotted a wasp today in the front garden and thought "Ah swarming season has started". British Problems compared to Japanese Hornets. Never had a wasp nest in my house or got stung, so not a wasp hater. What isn't can still come though.
Surely the sting attracts other hornets?
#paging spotter
Well technically the sting attracts neither wasps or hornets. The Giant Asian Hornets are insectivores and are famously fond of Bees. Their hunting style relies on scouts find a hive and then releasing a pheromone to attract their nestmates to start a devastating raid. The sting doesn't hold the pheromone (I think its secreted and then rubbed on the hive) so to say that is a bit misleading, as is the 'flesh dissolving' acid part because I believe it actually causes your cells to burst under osmotic pressure. The breaking down of your cells also wouldn't really kill you (well I mean it would but it would take quite a while and you'd have to be stung a hell of a lot), as you'll go into anaphylactic shock first.
Japanese Honey Bees (Apis cerana japonica) have a very interesting defence against them too:/science
