@voiceofreason17 screeching that you hate Islam pays no respect to Riggers. You disgrace the flag he once carried into battle. -

Because I was born a long time ago. My spell-checker was happy with that spelling, it's only a matter of fashion (and to some extent vowel-shift in English, I imagine) how we transliterate from languages which are not usually written in Latynka.

Do you never say Germany* when you mean Deutschland?
-
• #45632
No, we say "en err eff" or "err eff en" for BRD
-
• #45633
So you say Republika Federalna Niemiec, but you're bothered about whether I write Moslem or Muslim?
-
• #45634
Jif, not Gif apparently now that we're onto spelling etc.

Confusing due to:
I am Dutch, so I have to add a few gggggggggssgg to things like "great" and go "yessssssshhhh" every now and then.

Nah, I'm not having that. You can't just throw all conventional logic away because somebody claims they are the only authority on the matter. It doesn't even make sense.

No, I'm talking about Ceylon. My pun was about the colonial era names... You know what, it seems wasted anyway.

There is a categorical difference between variable transliteration and use (or not) of native proper nouns by non-native speakers. In short, your Ceylon comment is irrelevant.

• #45639
At least you didn't say Mohammedan
-
• #45640
Yes, any fule kno the approved spelling is Muhammadan now.

• #45641
That last sentence dates you somewhat.

@voiceofreason17 screeching that you hate Islam pays no respect to Riggers. You disgrace the flag he once carried into battle.I'm sure this is just a little local misunderstanding, which would all be cleared up if somebody explained to EDL and their fellow-travellers that Kampf and Jihad mean the same thing

At least you didn't say Mohammedan
Muslims themselves, in he countries where they are the majority. Tend to call themselves "Mosselman"
-
• #45648
That's interesting. My comment came from from the observation that the word implies that the religion is based on worship of Mohammed rather than Allah, commonly thought to be slightly ignorant and / or offensive...

You'd have thought a Moslem Fifth Columnist would have chosen a less obvious screen name than al-Murray
