You need more skill to use a gun. Because its fucking hard to aim a handgun accurately.

Using a gun is easy. All you do is line up the front sight, the back sight and the target, brace for the kickback and you will hit it.
My first go shooting a Glock 9mm was with the monster of all hangovers, and I still nailed mr paper target man right between the eyes.

Because incapacitating the target is nearly always preferred, whether in police or armed conflict situations. An injured suspect can be put on trial, maybe implicate accomplices or even be proven innocent and released alive. An injured soldier is a drain on enemy resources and depresses morale more than an easily ignored corpse. The only people you need to kill fast are suspected suicide bombers, where giving them time to activate their trigger poses an immediate threat of death to bystanders.

Also, I'm quite sure ALL special forces of the Army, Navy and Marines operating in Iraq or Afghanistan have policy of not leaving injured or dead behind the enemy lines.
