No Macbook has an IPS screen, yet the iMac does.

If he cares greatly about colour in his previews, and he's also performed calibration of the screen, then lugging about his iMac is the only answer. In which case he's just proved himself to be an OCD photographer of note... as who else goes so far to get perfection in colour reproduction at time of shooting?

Yeah he is very OCD. He uses constant light rather than flash and even on lights that aren't his, like room lights, he'll swap the bulbs out for daylight balanced ones if there's light coming in through the window.

Being a predominantly b&w photographer myself these things do go somewhat over my head.

Yeah I thought the screen on the macbook was actually meant to be better coz it ain't so glossy or something. Who knows. So long as that photog pays me to haul his imac up the stairs etc then I don't really mind.
