Well, he's an American for a start, and also a Holywood A lister (I assume), so I guess sunglasses are required as part of the uniform, whether reading or otherwise. Also, they're yellow tinted, so not really that strong I guess. Clearly it was a sunny day going by the photo, so not that unusual.
