What's wrong with tree-spades then?
It's the only cost-effective means of transporting a live tree without spending hours trying to dig it out by hand or with a mini digger. Nurseries and tree plantations growning specimin trees use them all the time. Causes surprisingly little damage to the root ball as well. It's obviously going to be replanted, no way you'd use it otherwise, would cost about £40 to fell that tree and turn it to chips, getting the spade out will be about £100 + transport + replanting costs.
That one's only a baby as well. The big ones are truely epic to watch in action, biggest I've seen would happily pluck a tree with a 60cm girth with almost no damage.
Harvesters on the other hand are pretty messed up. Does the job of around 100 men in a day. They also have a habit of killing the operator if they're fucking stupid.

I can assure you the excitement wears off after the first dozen or so.
