Maybe this can be a skid comp instead..
All three weather services I've checked say these showers will have passed by the time we start racing.
Pretty warm outside too so should dry up pretty quick.Skid comp!!!
I'm IN! :)

Great night out. Well organised as always by Gustav who also rode like the wind to achieve a really fast time only somewhat significantly slower than mine. Congrats to Conservative Values and Tika for winning the men's and women's competitions respectively. And thanks Gustav for allowing me some great flag action. Good to see everyone or at least try and work out who I was speaking to in the dark.

Some people may claim that Ma3k won this, but I'm pretty sure I did. As I'm the first to claim success, it must be true.
Seriously though, a good time was had by all, despite the rain. Chapeau to Gus for arranging it.

Brilliant night. Good enough that the thunder and lightening storm in the middle didn't put us off one bit. Thanks to Blue Quinn for managing to fit 4 people underneath the worlds smallest umbrella!
Yet again gear choice was of high importance and I got it wrong yet again**these are not just excuses, this genuine. Honest.

Nice night everyone!!!
Shit, was MA3K there? Who is he?
I have to meet him to organise a frame pick up. -
• #114
Ha, that was fun, only just got in from the pub.
So was tika ruled to have won the women's competition by default because Cynthia wasn't there in time for qualifying? Cynthia beat her in the match sprint.

A little off topic, but what sort of photography method yields these results, big flash with a delayed shutter speed? Does the event require an official photographer? If so, I would be happy to oblige.
that was an eight second exposure, held the flash in my hand and fired manually as the rider came by.

I have to meet him to organise a frame pick up.Ma3k won it.
He was riding a brakeless blue Condor (with the middle sections of the main triangle stipped to the metal) with risers. He was almost certainly drunk too (I can't really remember, but it would make sense).

Er? conservative_values won, not MA3K. They went up against each other in the final.

Wow, late night *and *an early morning Oliver!

As it turned out, all times were disregarded, and I won, because I had a shiny red bike.

• #120
Speak to VB, he'll change your name for you!
-
• #121
I'd like to point out that my bike was as red as anyone's and I claimed victory some ten posts ago.
So Ma3k came second? Serves me right for not paying enough attention.

Thanks to everyone who made it down...wasn't sure how it would work out given the spot and the weather but seemed to work pretty smoothly.
Particular thanks goes to Tui (spoke card design) and Johnny H (walkie talkies)...thanks also to those who helped out on the night and Tom for bringing up the walkie talkies from Shoreditch,
Not in an urgent hurry to get another round done given London's weather but further down the line, I'll give it a go. Would definitely give encouragement for people looking to give it a go in other corners of London (happy to lend my chequered flag).
Will look to get times up in due course but Bank Holiday to enjoy first. If anyone is interested in spoke cards from last night, please let me know - 50p donation going to Sustrans. Have also had a request for spoke card from the first round, let me know if your interested in picking up one.
If you've got any photos, videos etc from last night, please post links to this thread at would love to see them.
Have a great w/end

I was at the finishing line and therefore was ideally placed to see who won. The women's final was very very close. From my vantage point in the dark I could not work out who had won but was told that it was Tika. The men's final was no so close but again I could not work out which of the dark forms buzzing past me was whom but was told it was CV but it could just as easily have been Tom.
It's the taking part that matters. Well done to them all.

• #124
Oh yes... and I definitely won the Vets (again).
-
• #125
Did you? I thought that the guy on the Paddy Wagon qualified for Vets and beat you.
Anyway, you got disqualified for too much lycra.
Also, it was CV versus John in the final, so that chances of a Tom having won are low.
