I've done Brighton Loop before and getting right down to the sea front is a pain with all the traffic. Matt's Ditchling Devil route looks like a good compromise.

In. Can't do there and back due to a 80km ride planned for the day after, which unfortunately won't be at a recovery pace.

If you actually want to go to Brighton, which I'm guessing people do, the DD route's not the best. It also missed out a couple of nice stretches which the traditional route takes in, including that village with the pond in the middle of it.

I can't do this now if it's Saturday but I wrote out Audax style directions for the classic route and have gpx if anyone wants it.
