isn't 140 and 155 a bit too extreme ( length-wise ) ?

yes if you have a high BB, quite handy if you have a low one. Both pique and ali use them, they seem to like it.

So i have a shiny silver 155 110 bcd crankset for sale, and a fairly battered black shimano mtb set with bashguard and 32t 3/32 chainring for sale off my old polo bike.

you said 110 before and then 130 now, but no matter, i'll take them for my touring bike. i'll be in london feb. 11-16 if not sooner. think they'll let cranks on a flight in carry-on luggage?
