how can a rim be canti only?

Was wondering the same.

Perhaps the rims are so shit (made of cheese) that they just crush like a beer can when you use Vs.

The subway 8 uses hub brakes front and rear, no attachments for caliper or discs as far as I'm aware (work in a halfords)

how can a rim be canti only?

I think the guy listing it has got a bit mixed up, as he goes on to refer to side-pull calipers.
The reason for saying 'no v-brakes' is as the wheels are 26 x 1 3/8 they're not the same diameter as 26'' MTB wheels (Sheldon reckons 1853mm vs 1756mm respectively), so canti/v-brake mounts will most likely be in the wrong position on the frame to work with these wheels.
