  • ha i have nothing to find :§... i havent been on ebay in months.

  • ha, i think rik should do it, he is king of ebay.

  • it is not that dificult to find a frame, really
will be dificult to make a thread, because what is good for me could be shit for you

  • ha, i think rik should do it, he is king of ebay.

    no this days

  • not just frame init... tape, risers, short reach stems, etc.

  • Ray, we could do it, but I think is the pinnacle all the lazyness and lameish if you can not source the parts for your bike.

if you need something in particular, short quill stem, high riser, then yes ask, but for the rest, check ebay and check the classified ssection here in the forum and you done

    we all have done it

  • I think some people would appreciate a point in the right direction when it comes to a polo bike and its set-up. I'll start one... see how it goes if the thread sinks it sinks. no love lost.

True, but probably unlike most of you, I know fuck all about building bikes, I just want to play polo. I know it's considered wrong, but I'd much rather just walk into cycle surgery, pay my money, and walk out with a polo bike.

If I go on e-bay I have no idea if what I'm buying will even work, for example, would this do:

  • yep thats not too bad.

  • that is good, but have in mind that your polo bike should be a bit smaller size that your mormal one, so is you ride 56cm for polo go for 54cm

I'm 6 foot 4, at the moment I'm riding a 58cm with the saddle another 20cm out, so I guess a 57cm with the saddle low down should be fine for me?

  • yeah if you check out this thread:
    http://www.londonfgss.com/thread14457.html

there's various set-ups. for different types of games.

  • dont we have a polo bike upgrades thread for this reason?

  • I'd say so.

Between the upgrades and "polo bike" threads there should be more than enough information available.

  • Shouldn't we just put together some junk bikes for newbs to use? I don't have to lend mine often, because it's big and no good unless you're a lefty, but I can totally understand why Gabes has got the hump.

  • could do bill, but do you wanna ghost one down there every saturday? or does anyone else for that matter. if people have their own bikes, they should use them, and if they get damaged, well, welcome to polo!

    Spot on Rik!
if someone else has to list ebay lists in a thread to help you know what you want then its high time to ... Fuck off to Halfords

Why not just "Polo Spares" i.e rear wheel/cogs/mallets/pedals etc - whole new bikes could cost time and money to store/up keep and be a pain to take to the courts.

you can play polo on any bike

  • As a sidenote, it's also not very cool to borrow someone's bike, ride it super aggressively (just because they do doesn't mean you can necessarily control it as well as them - especially your first few weeks) and then rant on about how crap it is or call it a piece of shit. They aren't made to be broken, they're made to play polo (which can break them).

+1 - backwards forks aren't for everyone, but I love my bike!

I am sure that there about 5 people reading this thread right now that would happily take your money and supply you with a polo bike, but honestly, it's not hard to build a bike, and given that you are likely to trash a polo bike several times over in the course of a season, you might as well learn some basic maintenance skills, or you will find yourself spending a small fortune on repairs.

  • Err seriously if people can't build there own mallets and bikes after they have got the 'bug' and after the raft of threads on the subject and the people offering drills etc then balls to them. Why should someone come and fuck up my bike every week because they think theirs is to valuable to play polo on? I love my bike, i ride it nearly everyday, if i lend it to someone and they fuck it up on there first go, i couldn't care less, but turning up, multiple times...you better be ready to buys spokes and ski poles.

  • Oh bliss.

  • My polo bike has always been a slut, loaned out to whoever needs it but I'm afraid I'm starting to think the same way as Gabes.

I believe there were 13 or 14 new people on Saturday. If I'd been there my bike would have ended up being used as it's right handed and freewheel but that's a lot of wear and tear on a bike that I have to pay for.

In the past I've had badly buckled wheels to fix because I let other people use my bike. Don't get me wrong, I treat it like shit and throw my bike around all over the place but it's my wage packet that covers it. Even though it may appear that I don't care, I love that bike more than any other I' ve owned. The point remains that me breaking it is different to someone else doing it.

Likewise I don't lend people mallets any more as I break enough of them anyway, it's all cost to me.

If it's someones first time then fair enough, in the past I've always volunteered my bike but it's getting to ther point even that's too much to expect as there are so many people turning up.

Don't get me wrong. If any of you kill your bike in a tourney mine will be the first to be thrown into the court but that's because I know you and you will respect it.

And that's what's grating, it's the lack of respect/gratitude shown by a minority that will ruin this for the majority of new comers.
