  • Are you implying that a Londoner should have sided with you because you are a Londoner?
No, he's implying that the refs had called it a goal, marked it on the board then someone else convinced them to change it. I'll abstain from giving my point of view as to the issue around the BJ rule but if the refs call it, their decision should be final and free from external forces.

  • I feel bad for the wood panels. I thought the gap between the fenses feet was smaller and that the panels would overlap and be stronger. I made a mistake and it wont happen again. I learn by my mistakes. Mike it's your right to criticise. I understand your point, and i'm sure you would have liked playing more also.

  • Are you implying that a Londoner should have sided with you because you are a Londoner?

No, As Emilie said, the goal had already been called by goal ref and put on the scoreboard by the main ref. Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore, it's been and gone, and also, apples beat netto 5-1 tonight.

did they cut someone and pick up adam "the wall" yet?

  • Nice WE.
Nice to see you all again since london...

For ref matters... i thinks that the better solution is to take half hour to talk about in the begining of the w-e. This time it was a lil' bit too speedy. for example satursday morning I understand that defending behind the goal was punished by kicking out player, but another ref tell me the sunday that he give goal to attackant the fault was done...

But that's polo, and i think that all this is just normal, the rules is moving every week, in tournament too.

My face plant is just a a sloppy break-dancing wave.

  • ;1015820'] One court was made of ped barriers and what seemed like balsa wood with plastic sheeting covering the goal ends.

BUt thats not the first time we've played on courts built that way. The only difference between that and the courts at shoreditch is the quality of wood used. The plastic sheeting was there to use all the way round to stop the ball going out, but it just didnt get done until sunday.

;1015820']I won't say well done Paris but will say well done London for taking care of business. Basically I feel as though half of London polo just paid to travel to Paris, paid €20/each to enter and organise a tournament.

Sure. And half of London Polo helped organise the BFF tourney here too. You know as well as anyone how much work a tourney that size takes, and Marc and Luis did an amazing job in a very short time. We're one of the largest, strongest polo communities in europe with the most international tournament experience, and its awesome that most of us are willing to step up and help other cities when they need it. I guarantee you that wasnt the last time London Polo helps out someone else throwing their first/second/whatever large tourney, and Im glad we're in that postition.

The 20 Euro only sucks because of the exchange rate against the British Rupee right now. Normally, thats about what we'd pay just for the shirts, so that doesnt leave much for court building, insurance, etc. The BFF here is big enough that it can cover those expenses and still run a free tournament, but Paris isnt in that position yet.

;1015820'] All in all, I had a great weekend but playing polo wasn't fun.

Thats because you missed No Wheelie No Polo on Monday:) Best game of the weekend.. As for the tourney, I'm pretty sure Mango Sharks were DFL, I took out my own goalkeeper, and I havent laughed that much playing polo for so long (although that might have been the 1Euro wine). Paris was awesome. Thanks to everyone who made that happen (wherever they come from)

And also huge thanks to Vic for giving up her apartment to the combined polo forces of london, manchester and barcelona, moving out and still making us dinner and riding us around. I know youre not on here, so Im just leaving you random messages and hoping you read them sometime..

  • Monday throw ins from 12 till 5 with Cento Agata Conos Braley Netto Malice and all the Germans was loads of fun. No wheelie no goal - John tried so hard. "I can feel it, give me the ball now!"

"Ive got wheelie". That was the best game of the weekend..

  • Awesome w'end! Huge thanks to Luis for being the host with the most, sorry if we kept you awake by snoring.

Thanks to all involved in organizing this, especially Marc and Luis. End of an era for Netto, but new Netto will be back with more discounts and special offers. I'm kinda glad Snoopert isn't playing with us anymore after we found out about his anger problem. I have a number you can call mate.

  • "Ive got wheelie". That was the best game of the weekend..

    +1

Oh, and thanks for putting us up last night John

  • I'm kinda glad Snoopert isn't playing with us anymore after we found out about his anger problem. I have a number you can call mate.

    "Why is he so angry?"

"We werent white boys, We were just white"

  • Great photos Sol, wish we could have been there .
So what's the opinion is Balljointing going to be outlawed or was this a one off ? These decisions reverberate around the home counties like a bilious attack.

  • chatting to luis, it seems that they regret this rule as it was a pain in the arse, it's just more rules for mistakes to be made with.

  • BJ's were never outlawed, the rule was simply 'if you ball joint you have to pass' (ie you can't release the BJ then shoot)

  • yeah, exactly, there was also another point, this was only outlawed after one team had scored a goal, the conceding team couldn't then balljoint the full court and shoot without passing. But this was confusing, maybe due to the description (language barrier).

  • And the motivator spécial fixie inc from frenchs geeks:

    Awesome.

I can see the logic now. Plus an essential part of a good tournament is some kind of reffing controversy, its like fights at weddings and funerals.

  • What a great, great weekend.... !! Thank you to Luis & Marc for adopting me as their Apologies Accepted 3rd man, i would have been happy with just the sweet team polo, hoody & cardigan let alone the 2nd spot prize.... You did a great job organising the tourney between yourselves, thanks for all the time and effort that you must have both put in.... Thanks to the lovely Vic who completely gave over her flat to 3 Barcelonans & 3 Mancs for the weekend and took us out riding with the Mittens thru Paris traffic, get that hand better and get back playing polo again....!! Thanks to John for putting us up in london and taking us to see the Falafel Don of Dalston... Good Call...

Here's to Paris, sunshine and falling leaves, bread, cheese, ham, warm beer, €1 Trampagne, Eiffel tower throw-ins, no-wheelie no-goal, hedge lounging, small dogs, chav wheelies, anger management, long polo, Braley shouting, Gabes eating problems, bleeding noses, T-boning 7 year olds (little cunts), Chan burning the toast & leaving the milk out, broken frames, the Chan d'Elysee, The Chan de Triomphe, French Girls on bikes, cheesy night clubs, free booze & finally POLO...!! Hell Yeah

  • I've come to the conclusion that Adam likes the back of my head too much.

  • Come on Em It's much more aesthetically pleasing than the front....

  • Therefore requires multiple photographs from both of the BFF tournaments this year?

+1 I ended up doing the bracketing after the qualifiers in Eindhoven, and jumped in to help tear down the court. I wasn't upset about this. I was happy to help.

And what does it matter if you're from London or Paris? Because you're from a different city than the tournament, you automatically should have to do fuck-all? We're all people who play polo and are, more and more because of international tournaments, becoming good mates.

Even with the negativity, I fucking wish I had been in Paris and played.... Gutted.

  • of course darling...
