  • So you're probably riding 95psi by the end of the week. The comfortable end of the week.

  • 120 front and rear, Vittoria Pave on the Fuji.
135 front and rear, Veloflex Black on the road bike.

  • I'm sure I weigh more than most of these folks.. fucked if I'm running 135psi on these roads.. there's no need.

  • hippy you can't be that heavy.

  • He's not. Fat Hippy is a modern myth.

  • 91.7kg tonight. I maybe bother with 120psi for a TT. 115psi for summer fast ride. Mostly 105psi fading through the week for commuting, training, etc. I have a slow leak in my Condor rear at the moment for example I'm too lazy to change. Down to probably 80psi by the time I get to work.. and I still kick all your arses*..

*not you bmmf, not always anyway ;)

  • What's your best 10 time??

  • 91.7kg tonight.

You are pretty heavy. I'm twice your size and just under 100kg.

  • 110 front and back

any one know how much you loose as you pull the pump off there is always a sharp hiss is this just air in the pump or should i compensate for a small psi drop?

  • Mine are getting flat, so I dont know whats my psi yet :P

  • yes you do, it's on the tyres.

  • Yes but might be changing it.

  • Gatorskins as hard as the work compressor goes (120psi I think) apart from the lower rolling resistance it also makes stones ping at taxi's (sometimes other cars too)

  • I'm sure I weigh more than most of these folks.. fucked if I'm running 135psi on these roads.. there's no need.

The Veloflexes are very, very thin-walled and flexible - it really doesn't feel like 135 when you're riding, even over long (DD, for instance) distances. Having them at pretty much full pressure also seems to reduce their propensity to puncture a bit.

  • What's your best 10 time??

I've (technically) never ridden one, since 11 laps of Hillingdon is not 10mi.

Suffice to say, my fastest time for any distance is at least 10 seconds faster than anyone else's time.

Well you wouldn't want a warm beer would you?

  • You are pretty heavy.

I know. It stops me floating into space.

  • 25c's - 95 rear, 90 front. I used to run around 110, but this feels so much nicer...

  • ^but, like, you must being going about 30mins slower over 10 miles and shit ;)

  • 25c gatorskin = 100-105psi
    28c radonneur = about 90psi

I weigh about 70kgs, maybe just under and find that is ok. I find the radonneur a little sluggish compared to the 23c bonti hardcases on my other bike (also done to about 100-105psi), but that'll be down to the slightly bigger footprint. the rad gives a much smoother ride though* and i find it well suited to londons lovely glass sprinkled roads. probably top up my pressure about 2-3 times a week.

    • this is also down to the frame they are on
  • front and rear - 110psi

  • ^^The sluggishness is down to frontal area and weight, but mainly weight.

If I weighed 70kg, and rode 28s, I'd take the opportunity to enjoy the comfort of 75psi, thank you very much (although I'd, like, go 30mins slower over 10 miles and shit).

Nah... when you have a vague impression of a blur passing you by and an inexplicable wind ruffling your shorts, that'll be me...
