if it's a public place then people can object all they like, they cannot prohibit you taking photographs in a public place.
if you are a "professional photographer" why are you taking "snaps" -
• #3
Apparently..... in East London, everyones a professional these days eh
;)

The 'snaps' are as I said for personal pleasure. The Holga is a creative camera which is a very different (more fun) style of photography than portraiture or stock imagery. Photography for me is both a hobby and separately a source of income occassionally.
I don't intend to have these in my stock library for sale, but since I work in an industry where people might want to use them, I would like to reserve the right to sell them with permission.I wouldn't be so brash as to take photos without permission, especially since we're in the same community and I don't want to offend people, which is why I'm asking.
By law you can take peoples likeness without consent providing you don't reproduce the image for financial gain. -

At least I have the graciousness to say 'semi' professional James.

Come on now, everybody knows that its great camera's that make great photo's, not the photographer.

Photography and cycling are financially crippling me. Loves it though.

so if i buy a holga that comes with a free creativity pack i suddenly become more creative?
what a crock of shite. -
• #12
You can't buy creativity obviously.
I was making a comparison between this camera and a (D)SLR.
I'm sorry if I didn't convey that to you.
If you would like me to explain further then do let me know. -
• #13
I thought it came with free creativity built in, i'm not buying one now.
-
• #14
I just did a shit and took a photo of it. It got really upset and made me delete it.
-
• #15
The shit or the camera?
-
• #16
creativity is not free. you have to download the plug-in from their website.
the idea that one camera is more creative than another is folly (if they both have manual controls)

Do I upload via the digital film back, or via the tripod port?

A holga does not have the same manual controls as (D)SLR and therefore they're non-comparable.
The results you get from these medium format films are entirely different from manual cameras because of their make up. Therefore they are not generally used for portraiture in a professional camera.
I'm assuming you know what a Lomography is so you're equipped to have this discussion.I some how knew my request to take some 'snaps' wouldn't be a straightforward one.

I heard in london you are never more than 4 foot away from a photographer...scary when you think about it

wicksie. turn up with armfuls of cider, spare tubes, tyres and those bags of mini cakes from turkey which are shaped like shells. be friendly and chat to people before you get your camera out.
learn about the game and the rules. have fun.
I've been perusing the various threads and pages in this section for about half an hour now and couldn't find anywhere appropriate to send my request, so apologies if this is in the wrong place.
I'm possibly heading down to watch the polo this Sunday and wanted to take some photos with my 'trendy' Holga camera.
These photos are intended for personal pleasure but I am a (probably semi) professional photographer, so would like to feature them on my website (as yet not launched) (must stop shopping round this forum and get my website running). As such, should anyone wish to purchase my photos, I would like to retain the right to sell them. I would of course approach the people featured in the photo and seek their written consent, perhaps buy them a beer or two, and only then would I allow the photo to be reproduced.
Having said that, I'll probably be hungover and the photos will be shite.
So, would anyone object to me coming along and taking a few snaps?
