Can we work with this basic set of rules?
- 3 games per fixture
- 2 weeks to play
- no-show counts as a forfeit (unless you can rearrange before end of league)
- a referee should be present at all games
And then vote on the rest?
- Time limit for games (10, 12, 15, 20, none)?
- Subs can or cannot be league players?
- League play to occur on a designated day and court?
looks good.
Re point 3, I was suggesting that league games can be played on the tuesday team nights as well as any other (non throw-in) day. If people can't make the tuesday's then cool, just play when/where you can. Also tuesday's shouldn't exclusively be league games. Non-league teams should be able to play on that evening.
Another point. Will the end of league results specify who qualify's for next years euro's or even the worlds (as they'll be in europe somewhere). Will only the top spot get automatic qualifiction or top 3? etc etc.
can't wait for this to get started, season 2 should be interesting!

I'm busy every Tuesday evening from September till end of the year!
...can we have 2 named weeknights for the league? Keep it kindof simple? -
• #55
I think people can play whenever, as long as they don't take over throw-in nights (so team night is a good time to play a fixture as long as the other players there don't object).
dt; I have no idea if this should go towards who'll play in next years euros. Ideally yes, but in reality, not all the teams that start the league will be complete at the end of the league. But it's worth adding as a vote. You can assume, I guess, the top 3+ teams at the end have done well enough that they'll want to stay together for the euros '10.

I strongly advocate that the league be completely independent of the Euros. There may be many new teams that were not around for the beginning of the league that want to play the Euros. I think we should specify a qualifying tourney date far in advance so everyone can make it.
There is an argument for allowing the winner of the league a free pass to the Euros, but I prefer that all teams should have to play each other the same day in a qualy.

We should also make it the responsibility of the ref to email the scores.
And no offense to aitch (he did a good job) but I'm sure we can do a better results table than last years. -

in the case of the forfeit what does the team that turned up get? 3 points and no goals, 3 points and 15 goals? something else?

Should we consider allowing the top 2 (or 3) teams to have a final playoff? I'm throwing this out more for discussion; not sure if it needs to be voted on unless others think so.

Yes, can't wait for the league! Really chuffed about the timing of games too, smart idea.

I feel if anything it should only be the 1st place. I think personally my game will improve massivly by the end of the league and it wouldn't be unfortunate if I(or anyone) missed out on a chance to qualify because of scores from the start of the league.

The first league was supposed to have set dates to play. That didn't work though.
I've been an advocate of timing the games somehow. One idea I liked was playing for an hour, scoring as many goals as possible. I like the 3 games at 20min each more though, sticks to tradition.
I also feel that if you're going to allow fixtures to be made up at any time before the league ends then there is no need for subs unless a team needs a permanent substitute player which would need to be a non-league player unless a team 'buys' a player from another team or a player becomes a free-agent.
Being able to make up games at any time before the league ends also nullifies forfeitures. If a team can't make up a fixture by the end of the league, they should forfeit the entire league. With time limits, you can't give the forfeiting team 15 goal points as there is no guarantee that any of the games would've went to 5.
If there are true forfeits, and fixtures aren't allowed to be made up before the end of the league, then they should be limited to a set amount before ejection from the league.

Good point about the ability to play outside the allocated time-frame rendering time-frames obsolete.
Maybe people should still have 2 weeks to play, with bi-weekly releases of upcoming fixtures.
As for forfeits, I think maybe if a team forfeits 2 fixtures, they are out. The price for failure should be high!

It's up to the playing teams where to play their fixture, so long as it doesn't step on other people's toes.

why not play all the league games where ever the 'home' team wants? just like the last one

Home team choosing the court sounds best to me
Right, so league night probably would be hard to do.
