  • in my day, we got up before we went to bed, got beaten up by two dozen bouncers ........ etc.

  • My bro totally rates the Fall gigs for the same reasons mentioned - even now there's always a proper uneasy vibe going on that has a unique energy.

Got to say I rate The Fall musically, some of the stuff is wicked. Bag of its own.

  • prodigy aren't bad neither .... apart from when the black ( not racist ) ( just don't know his name ) guy squeals in an annoting high pitched whine like glasters this year

  • He has a nack of picking gorgeous female keyboard players old MES

And then beating them up after the show... Fact...

  • Take That were very good at Wembley.

  • Mars Volta at the ICA

  • thread collapse in 33 posts

  • the fall
    the wedding present

can't beat the onstage brooding of mark e smith
fights with his band members walk off
keeps you on the edge of your toes you never know whats gonna happen next will he throw a punch at the bass player will he take the drumsticks of the drummer and do it himself

    hmmm

    -1 the fall
the most miserable 45 minuted I've ever had to pay for.

  • YouTube - Dead Can Dance - Avatar (Live 1989)

The best live experience I ever had. I was up here where the camera is. The sound quality was phenomenal, a blissed out evening!

Best Live band ever? Maybe not. What about the JBs? I'd like to have seen trouble funk too.

  • YouTube - Gogol Bordello - Ultimate - Live @ Coachella 2008

Saw these in Brixton once. Pretty amazing.

  • +1 to talking heads, if i could see any band live, it would be them.

YouTube - Psycho Killer Live (HQ) Talking Heads

  • Best band/gig I've personally ever seen

YouTube - ORBITAL. impact. live from glastonbury 1994

  • Art Brut take some beating.

  • I apologise in advance

YouTube - Take That 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' 1995

that clip never fails to send me into hysterics. "are you ready for some wock and wole!"

  • i think i was there for that gig ! fences were much lower in those days weren't they ! ( orbital )

  • I reckon Steely Dan have to be up there... can't remember who the drummer was on their last tour but he fucking destroyed the place. So awesome.

Bjork get points for having a coat which streamers shot out of and Seasick Steve gets points for when i saw him at the boardwalk and he walked through the crowd serenading several people (including me :-s)

  • @ dicki - much lower to horizontal in some places!

  • Also one of the best live performances I've ever seen was Erykah B at Brixton about five years ago, it was flipping astral.

Also YouTube - Mary J Blige - No More Drama
made me cry when they broadcast it. Wait til she lets go near the end. Enough to make even the most RnB-hating person believe that Mary J Bilge meant what she wrote!

    Never understood the appeal either.
Mark E Smith made every word in the English language rhyme by adding "-aaaah" on the end of it.

  • Hahahah!^aaah

  • he's no shakespere admittedly

  • YouTube - Chicks on Speed - We don't play guitars - Salamanca 2007

I was hoping I oculd find them playing at Cargo.... they had the London knitters on stage with them then.

  • best live gig i've ever been to was joanna newsom and the Ys street band at the barbican with the LSO. there are no words. fucking stunning. i get moist eyed just thinking about it.
