I brought this cel from Akira a few years ago. It's the scene near the start of the film just as the as army is about to arrest the motorcycle gang.
I have a couple somewhere, must dig them out and get them framed... Such beautiful things...

I'll never forget being greeted with this for the first time when I bought my first Anime vhs. I think the film was 3x3 eyes.

Grave of the Fireflies is a great film. Not suggested viewing if you're feeling fragile though.
Nothing like two that I am talking about.

Has anyone seen Mardock Scramble? Watched the first two films a little while ago, pretty trippy, very messed up in places but definitely worth a watch if you can get hold of them

Thanks for the suggestion.Sadly it was some crap streamed version.
Do you know of any others that are similar to Sword of the Stranger and Ninja Scroll. I'm clueless about anime. -

^Samurai Champloo, absolutely amazing anime. Also worth watching: Guardian of the sacred spirit, bakumatsu kikansetsu irohanihoheto, basilisk (although it can be a bit dull at times), Samurai X/Rurouni kenshin if you wanna go a bit more old school

Been reading more than my fair share Raymond Chandler, anyone know any hard boiled/film noir/detective films?
I watched the animatrix years ago and thought the best part of it was Detective Story. -

I'll give it a go, not a big fan of that animation style though, looks like a Photoshop filter.

Yeah not a huge fan of rotoscope either, still a decent film though from what I recall. You ought to watch cowboy bebop too if you havent already.

Cowboy Bepop is ace.
I can't do rotoscope. I wish I could but I can't. -

Not sure if any of these have come up But I really like Macross Plus, Devil May Cry and One Punch Man. They're all pretty short. Macross plus comes in a 4 part (I think) OAV and DMC and 1PM are around 10 or 12 episodes each so short and sweet.
