Just been watching that, NAH posting about using clips of it for their ref training, ha!

Joe (ref) just admitted online he 'botched this game' after watching it back
-

Jono, that was like a Jamie Carragher tackle. Needs a gif.

Stone wall penalty as andy gray would say......

How is it my fault if Alexis' shoulders are made of cheese?
-
• #2362
Don't you mean his lower back is made of cheese?
-
• #2363
I don't know, I'd struggle to call that as a foul on Jono I think it's legal under the 2013 ruleset (in 2014 it would be illegal, as it's not shoulder-to-shoulder).
Jono makes contact with the shoulder.
I can't see bike-to bike from Jono.
It's possible there is body-to-bike on Alexis's handlebars, but can't see it from this angle.
Then the only other question is toppling. But was it the challenge that sent Jono down, or that Alexis then jacknifed, and took Jono out from under him.

Offside-lower-back? I don't care if that's not specified in the rule set, ref should call under the "dangerous play" catch all that should be in the rules... or the ref is always right, or whatever...
Edit: Unsportsmanlikeconduct, that's in the rules right? And Jono's clearly being unsporting.
having said that if the ref was concentrating on the ball player, you can understand him not seeing jono's foul... and the reaction is clearly a sending off.

Jono doesn't make contact with the shoulder, he's in his arm pit. It probably wasn't illegal (and I can't be arsed to check), but it's not a clean check and Jon should have been off IMO.

That is a shit game. I will never be good at polo, but at least I had great players to look up to when I started. If this is the pinnacle of bike polo, I despair for yoofs starting up right now.

• #2367
You aren't watching luca play. He does loads of cool shit to look up to.
-
• #2368
And John, can you post the next couple of frames I think it might show a slight steering arm infraction after the initial contact with the armpit/loweroffsideback

Agreed, but yes (as far as I can tell) it wasn't illegal. There was nothing that said you couldn't check with the shoulder into someone's armpit.
In 2014 it's illegal.

Louis, nothing you can see, Alexis is blocking the line of sight.
Remember, steering arm above the elbow was completely fine (and still is, as long as the contact is "high and even")
-
• #2371
That is neither.
You've got to admit though that Jono's smile is disarming!
-
• #2372

You don't get to 5th at the Worlds without breaking a few eggs?
(I was aiming for Alexis' shoulder, he lifted his steering arm last minute when putting the ball from right-to-left, we crashed because he crashed (x-up), agreed it was a foul, but not a bad one.)

AHL referee wears helmet cam - YouTube
^ American Hockey League ref wears a Go-Pro. Maybe refs just need to get more involved, stop standing on the side and get involved. Does anyone know how to rollerblade??

He get's insanely close to the action without even flinching
