  • I just want to start off by saying that this is John with www.mrdovideo.com. I had no idea how amazing the polo scene is there. You guys and gals definitely have your shit together and it's nice to see how people are doing things in other parts of the world. Dustin and I would love to highlight videos that are put out all over the world, but we really don’t know where to look. If anyone could help us get in touch with the person/people that are making these awesome videos, we would be very grateful. I’m excited to check out the rest of this forum because it looks like you all have some next level stuff going on. Also the final game of North Americans 2013 is up on the site. Study up boys and girls Worlds 2013 is going to be amazing. See you there!

  • I'm sure you'll find the final of the most recent Birmingham tournament to be worth a repeated, worldwide showing.

As an aside, your NAH stuff was sweet and I shall watch as much of the worlds as I can, just don't let Chan get too much air time.

  • Hey thanks for the info I appreciate it. We are taking a look at those videos now. Don't be fooled it is hard enough to get machine to shut up so I believe Chan will have his work cut out for him. Thanks again.

  • Just been watching call me daddy verses crazy Canucks at the 2011 final in Seattle.

How a team can score 6 goals and not have won is beyond me. I would have thrown my bike at the ref in the same situation!

  • The last goal didn't count because in America golden goal means rejoust

  • Yeah the mr do video explains that, and also has a neat graphic to show that another time that wasn't called a goal, the ball did cross the line.

Either one of these things happening would be gutting, but both, and then to be beaten by golden goal when you had basically scored 6 goals...

It's given me a lot of sympathy for CMD.

  • I remember thinking the same thing. Rejoust is pointless IMO. Much better to just keep shouting 'gooooooolden goaaaaal' over and over, and anticipatory 'ooooooo.....OOOOOOO......OOOOHHH's to the build up to any subsequent attempt on goal.

Then start heckling when golden goal lasts for more than five minutes.

  • 5.24 ish. Totally innocuous shot which could easily have resulted in a head-strike if the other guy had rolled in a split second sooner... Relevant to the current rules discussion about 'high sticking'.

Lovely goal by koyo at 10.25ish.

not actually watched this. anyone seen it?

  • Pretty good game for the highest-stake game of the year. Amazing full court pressure from Beavers - CMD just had no space or time on the ball.

Good reffing I thought, but what is the call at 12.15? Seems like legit can-opener on Will, who then hacks wildly and breaks his own mallet? Then leans on the goal and saves a shot (or did it go wide?) but CMD get the ball back?

How doesn't the t-bone get called at 14.25?

Fair play to CMD though - they played about as much double-d as beavers in that game.

  • High sticking call on Polo at the beginning is stupid, he was controlled and safe. Dillman takes a high stick wind up shot 3 seconds before and doesn't get called.

Surely the high sticking should be about people swinging their mallets over shoulder height that are likely to make contact not plucking balls out the air.

  • Yep, agreed, the high-sticking rule is/was broken at the Worlds, there were loads of lame calls like that throughout the tournament.

Great final game to watch back, CMD didn't get a look in (Polo especially?), Beavers all over it, Joey deserved MVP.

  • Surely the high sticking should be about people swinging their mallets over shoulder height that are likely to make contact not plucking balls out the air.

This is the crux of why it's such a difficult rule to write. I've never thought 'oooh that looks dangerous' before someone gets hit. They seem to come from nowhere. I've even been hit and not really understood how it happened, let alone been able to blame the hitter with recklessness.

  • Fair play to CMD though - they played about as much double-d as beavers in that game.

Yeah I don't really understand why they didn't D up in the final, when they played Beavers in the Swiss the game was a lot closer and they were playing the usual turtling...

Maybe they felt that as it didn't work in the Swiss they'd try being surprising and not D'ing up?

  • High sticking call on Polo at the beginning is stupid, he was controlled and safe.

I agree with the call being lame and a pointless stoppage in the game. However, as Chan says on the video 'there was no pressure on him', could he have not just let it drop to the floor? High sticking is only dangerous when you have players around you and when you don't have players around you it becomes unnecessary. Lame high sticking calls will fade out of the game because of this.

  • Polo and Greg were down too.

Good reffing I thought, but what is the call at 12.15? Seems like legit can-opener on Will, who then hacks wildly and breaks his own mallet? Then leans on the goal and saves a shot (or did it go wide?) but CMD get the ball back?

  • Paul was totally exhausted from totally hustling the ball for 3 days straight. And it showed.

  • Mr do website make my phone navigator crash.
As I remember, Paulo dabs way more than usual because he's exhausted. And the game against the control was really a stamina sucker for them: almost three fights in one game, bad ref decisions who drives Greg crazy, tight score and tension until the end.

Can't wait to see the final back on game, these behind the fence spots we were were bad to enjoy the show.

  • 1:34 jono really quite pissed.
    3:45 I'm shit faced.
12:77 So drunk can't even count seconds properly anymore.

  • best goal of tournament?!

  • I didn't see the shot, just remember the ball dipping so hard to get in below the cross bar.

It went over Julian's body, who ducked to get out of the way.

  • Yep, I remember that. That was some Cristiano Ronaldo dip.
